-- New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd
and Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant
today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in October and November.
Jason Kidd -- averaging 13.7 points and 10.2 assists -- has led the Nets to their best start ever.

Kidd averaged 13.3 points, 9.6 assists, 7.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals in leading the Nets to a 10-5 record and their best start in franchise history.
Bryant led the Lakers to a 14-1 record, their best start in franchise history, by averaging 27.6 points, 6.5 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 2.13 steals.
Here is a look at highlights from the month for Kidd and Bryant:
Jason Kidd, New Jersey November 13 at Indiana: Had 20 points and 10 assists in 91-82 victory over Pacers.
November 16 vs. New York: Had 12 points and 15 assists in 109-83 home victory over the Knicks.
November 22 at Los Angeles: Recorded his 39th career triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 95-90 road victory over the Clippers.
November 24 at Sacramento: Recorded his 40th career triple-double with 16 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in 98-97 loss.
Six times during the month he recorded double-doubles for points and assists.
Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers November 1 at Utah: Had a season-high 39 points and eight rebounds in 105-101 victory over the Jazz.
November 4 vs. Utah: Had 38 points, seven rebounds and three steals in 100-96 victory.
November 20 at LA Clippers: Had 25 points and tied his career-high with 12 assists in 98-93 victory over the Clippers.
November 24 at Denver: Had 24 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 89-68 victory over Nuggets.
Currently third in the NBA in scoring, he scored 30+ points five times during the month.
Other Eastern Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Boston's Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker, Cleveland’s Andre Miller, Detroit’s Clifford Robinson, Indiana’s Jamaal Tinsley, Miami’s Eddie Jones, Philadelphia’s Allen Iverson, Toronto’s Vince Carter and Washington’s Michael Jordan.
Western Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Denver’s Nick Van Exel, the Los Angeles Clippers’ Elton Brand, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Phoenix’s Stephon Marbury, San Antonio’s Tim Duncan and Seattle’s Gary Payton.
