and San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan
today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in March.
Mashburn led the Hornets to a 10-5 record, which tied them with Detroit for conference's best mark in March, by averaging 21.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists, while Duncan averaged 26.8 points, 11.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading the Spurs to a league-best 13-3 mark.

Jamal Mashburn, Charlotte Hornets March 18 vs. Milwaukee: Recorded 31 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals in 113-110 victory over the Bucks.
March 22 @ Orlando: Had 29 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in 106-92 victory over the Magic.
March 24 @ Indiana: Had 36 points, three rebounds and two assists in 99-84 victory over the Pacers.
March 27 vs. Orlando: Had 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in 111-104 victory over the Magic.
Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs March 7 vs. Houston: Had 30 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in 99-97 victory over the Rockets.
March 16 vs. Boston: Recorded 37 points, 10 rebounds and two steals in 111-104 victory over the Celtics.
March 21 @ Dallas: Had 32 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in 105-102 road victory over the Mavericks.
March 25 @ LA Clippers: Had 33 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in 91-85 road victory over the Clippers.
Other Eastern Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Detroit's Jerry Stackhouse and Ben Wallace, New York's Kurt Thomas, Orlando's Tracy McGrady and Philadelphia's Eric Snow.
Western Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, the Los Angeles Lakers' Shaquille O'Neal and Seattle's Gary Payton.
