NEW YORK, April 19, 2007 – The New Jersey Nets’ Vince Carter and the Denver Nuggets’ Carmelo Anthony today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for April, 2007.

Carter led the East in scoring with 29.0 ppg and he recorded two triple-doubles, his third and fourth of his career, while leading the Nets to a 7-2 record in the month and helping them secure the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

Anthony helped lead the Nuggets to a 10-1 record in April and the sixth seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. He ranked second in the NBA in scoring (28.9 ppg) and second in points per 48 minutes (36.3 ppg). Anthony also moved into seventh place on the Nuggets all-time scoring list, passing Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, in the Nuggets’ 114-103 victory over the Sonics on April 1. He finished the season with 7,286 career points.

Vince Carter, New Jersey Nets

  • April 7 vs. Washington: Had a triple-double with 46 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists in 120-114 win over the Wizards.
  • April 10 at Washington: Notched 31 points, six assists and two steals in a 96-92 win over the Wizards.
  • April 15 at Indiana: Tallied 35 points, four assists and five rebounds in a 111-107 win over the Pacers.
  • April 16 at New York: Registered his second triple double of the month with 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in a 104-95 win over the Knicks.
  • April 18 vs. Chicago: Posted 24 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and two steals in a 106-97 win over the Bulls.

    Carmelo Anthony, Denver Nuggets

  • April 1 at Seattle: Had 32 points along with nine rebounds in a 114-103 win over the Sonics.
  • April 4 vs. Sacramento: Recorded 31 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a 120-115 win over the Kings.
  • April 6 vs. Dallas: Tallied 23 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a 75-71 win over the Mavericks.
  • April 7 at L.A. Clippers: Scored 23 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 96-93 win over the Clippers.
  • April 9 vs. L.A. Lakers: Registered 33 points, five rebounds and five assists in a 115-111 win over the Lakers.

    Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month were Cleveland’s LeBron James, Golden State’s Jason Richardson, Houston’s Tracy McGrady, Orlando’s Dwight Howard and Toronto’s Chris Bosh.
