NEW YORK, March 1, 2007 – The Detroit Pistons’ Chauncey Billups and the Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for February, 2007.

Billups averaged 17.9 points and 7.5 assists while leading the Pistons to a 10-1 record for the month. He averaged 21.3 points on the road and dished out eight-plus assists five times. He also moved into 30th place all-time in three-point field goals made and shot 93 percent from the free throw line.

On his way to leading the Mavericks to a 10-0 record for the month, Nowitzki averaged 27.1 points and 9.7 rebounds. Nowitzki registered 30-plus points in four of the 10 games the Mavericks played in February.

Chauncey Billups, Detroit Pistons

  • Feb. 4 at Cleveland: Had 18 points, 10 assists and two steals in a 90-78 defeat of the Cavaliers.
  • Feb. 6 vs. Boston: Recorded 24 points, seven assists, and four rebounds in a 109-102 win over the Celtics.
  • Feb. 14 vs. San Antonio: Had 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 81-90 loss to the Spurs.
  • Feb. 23 at Orlando: Tallied 28 points while adding three rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 94-89 win over the Magic.
  • Feb. 25 vs. Chicago: Scored 15 points and added nine assists and two steals in a 95-93 defeat of the Bulls.

    Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks

  • Feb. 7 vs. Memphis: Scored 38 points and added 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocks in 113-97 win over the Grizzlies.
  • Feb. 13 at Milwaukee: Recorded 38 points and added 11 rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 99-93 win over the Bucks at the Bradley Center.
  • Feb. 22 vs. Miami: Tallied 31 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in 112-100 win over the Heat.
  • Feb. 24 vs. Denver: Had 31 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists, and went 10-for-10 from the free throw line in a 115-95 win over the Nuggets.
  • Feb. 27 at Minnesota: Scored 23 points while adding 14 rebounds and three assists in a 91- 65 win over the Timberwolves.
