NBA 2K23 Summer League: Wizards upend Warriors with 20-0 run

A dominant fourth quarter and strong shooting efforts from Jaime Echenique and Quenton Jackson spearheaded the Washington Wizards to an 87-77 comeback victory over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA 2K23 Summer League on Sunday night at Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

The Wizards came out of the gate looking like they had the Warriors’ number, holding Golden State to just 11 first-quarter points while forging an eight-point lead. However, the tables were turned drastically during a second quarter in which the Warriors enjoyed a 31-18 advantage. The Warriors kept up their hot shooting during a third period in which they totaled 27 points and took an eight-point advantage into the final period, but Washington opened the fourth quarter on a scorching 20-0 run to put the game away for good.

Jackon paced the Wizards with 18 points, adding three rebounds, one assist and three steals in 22 minutes off the bench. Echenique followed with a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double that included two blocks and one steal. Devon Dotson furnished 11 points and five assists, while Pat Spencer matched Dotson’s scoring and added seven assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Mac McClung led the Warriors with 14 points, complementing them with six assists and three rebounds. Lester Quinones delivered 13 points, four rebounds and one steal. James Wiseman supplied 11 points, six boards, two assists and two blocks in 19 minutes. Alex Morales registered 10 points, four boards, three assists, one steal and one block.

The two teams have now wrapped up Summer League play, with the Wizards having forged a 2-2 mark and the Warriors having posted a 1-4 record.
