NBA 2K23 Summer League: Lakers cruise past Mavericks

Los Angeles leads by as many as 26 points en route to the comfortable victory over Dallas.

Cole Swider scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 95-84 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA 2K23 Summer League on Saturday at the Thomas and Mack Center.

The Lakers jumped out to a great start with a 26-16 lead after one quarter. They kept the pressure on in the second and added another 10 points to their advantage, making it a 20-point game by halftime. The Mavs brought a better effort in the third and managed to trim the deficit to 13 heading into the final frame. They kept up the fight in the fourth, but it was too little, too late as the Lakers held on for the win.

In addition to Swider, three other players scored in double digits for the Lakers, including Jay Huff, who totaled 13 points, two rebounds, four assists, three blocks and a steal. Javante McCoy added 12 points, while Scottie Pepper Jr. scored 11 points.

On the other side, A.J. Lawson led the way for the Mavericks with 19 points, five rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. Moses Wright followed up with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal, while Jaden Hardy tallied 15 points, three rebounds and three assists.
