Anthony Davis sprains thumb against Nets

Lakers' star reportedly will undergo MRI in Los Angeles on Monday

Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis sprained his right thumb in the first quarter of Saturday’s preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets in China, the team announced, and he did not return.

The injury is believed to be a Grade 1 sprain — according to The Athletic — the least serious of up to four categorizations but one that could require at least several weeks to heal.

Davis is expected to receive an MRI of the injury in Los Angeles on Monday, according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell.

Davis finished the preseason game with six points, three rebounds and two blocks in 12 minutes.
