NBA Sets All-Time Attendance Records

Regular Season Draws Highest Average Attendance and Highest Total Attendance
NEW YORK, April 19, 2007 – The NBA finished the 2006-07 regular season with the highest average attendance and the highest total attendance in league history, for the third consecutive season.
This year’s average attendance of 17,757 fans per game bested the 2005-06 record of 17,558 fans per game, and the new total attendance record of 21,841,480 eclipsed the previous record of 21,595,804 established in 2005-06.
Overall this season, NBA arenas were filled to 92.3 percent capacity, where teams recorded 600 sellouts, an increase of 27 percent, compared to 471 sellouts in 2005-06. The 600 league-wide sellouts, is the most in over a decade.
“We are grateful for our fans’ continued support," said NBA Commissioner David Stern. “The third straight year of record attendance reflects the NBA’s ever-increasing popularity, as the world’s greatest athletes continue to display the passion and dedication they bring to this great game.”
The NBA Playoffs tip off on Saturday, April 21, with 16 teams competing for a trip to The Finals and the chance to win the Larry O’Brien championship trophy.
