It took several weeks, but the Indiana Pacers finally found a taker for Ron Artest. After a hectic 24 hours, the Kings and Pacers finalized a deal sending Artest to Sacramento in exchange for Peja Stojakovic. Scottie Pippen thinks it's a great deal for both teams.
Terry Porter, the former head coach of the Bucks who is currently a part-time analyst for the Spurs and also spent a year as an assistant in Sacramento, broke down the trade for us as well:

Peja is a prolific scorer, a guy that can shoot it from anywhere on the floor. He's a guy that can go out and give them 30 points and hopefully make up some of the scoring power they're going to lose with Ron.
I think he's a good fit, but with that player option, you always have to question if he's going to bolt on them. I'm sure it's a concern of theirs to give up someone like Ron and then get someone back who, if he decides to leave, they won't have anything to show for it on their roster. There's got to be some love shown by Indiana to let him know that he fits in their future and that he's an important part.
There's 30-something games left. He's going to give them another weapon to move into a better playoff position, but it still takes a while to build chemistry, get used to the other guys and get used to Rick Carlisle's system. It's hard to say how they're going to do going forward, but he's an All-Star.
I spent a year out there and I worked a lot with him after practices. He can shoot it and he works on his craft. If he's in the right situation, he can definitely lend a lot of strength to a team. I think Carlisle has been a coach to make the best of his roster and he'll put in schemes that best fits his strengths and make his team productive.

Ron Artest is definitely going to bring an edge and defensively he's going to bring something they really haven't had in Sacramento. He's obviously a different kind of scorer than Peja is. He can do a lot of different things for them, rebound and obviously take the best scorer on the opposing team and do a good job of keeping him under his average.
It's going to give them a shot in the arm, something they need right now. The big thing for them is to continue to get productivity from the starters and then get the young guys to perform. We'll have to see how quickly those young guys mature and become able to contribute.
When they have been somewhat healthy, they've been all right, but they've had quite a few of their big-time scorers out, and they didn't have some of the younger guys perform at that same level. The important thing is getting everybody back healthy as quickly as possible and playing.
When you think about it, Bonzi and Artest along with Bibby is pretty good. They've got some scorers and some guys that have some toughness about them.
