The Oklahoma City Thunder have locked up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. The Milwaukee Bucks are headed to the East playoffs, but they couldn't be in a much worse spot.

Oklahoma City will try to close the regular season with a fifth consecutive victory Wednesday night, while the visiting Bucks try to end their longest skid of 2012-13 before a brutal postseason matchup.

Needing a victory over Sacramento on Monday to claim the top spot in the West, the Thunder (60-21) won 104-95 behind 50 combined points from Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

The franchise has reached the 60-win plateau for the first time since the Seattle SuperSonics went 61-21 in 1997-98.

"We've never done it here before, so it's new to us," Durant said after scoring 29 points. "But it feels good. It shows our progression as a franchise each and every year."

While it's uncertain who the defending West champs will open the playoffs against - either the Los Angeles Lakers or Utah - what is all but certain is that Durant will not win a fourth consecutive scoring title. He would need 70 points Wednesday - and that's just if Carmelo Anthony, the NBA leader with 28.7 ppg, sits out New York's season finale against Atlanta.

Durant, though, doesn't need to do anything to become the sixth player in league history to shoot 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 90 percent from the foul line, joining Reggie Miller, Mark Price, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki and Larry Bird. Durant has hit 51.0 percent of his field-goal attempts, 41.6 percent from beyond the arc and 90.5 percent from the line.

"To be able to score as many points as he has scored and shoot that well is pretty impressive," coach Scott Brooks said. "It doesn't happen that often."

Neither does a Bucks playoff appearance. Milwaukee will be making its second trip to the postseason in seven years, but it's drawn league-best Miami in the first round.

The Bucks aren't exactly storming into the matchup with the Heat, dropping five in a row and 15 of 20. Monta Ellis scored half of his 38 points in the fourth quarter against Denver on Monday, but Milwaukee lost 112-111.

"It'd be nice for us to taste a victory," coach Jim Boylan said.

The Bucks nearly did with the Thunder in town March 30, but Oklahoma City went on a 19-2 fourth-quarter run en route to a 109-99 win.

Ellis and Brandon Jennings combined for 17 points and shot 6 of 30 in that game, negating a big effort from Ersan Ilysova, who had 29 points and 14 rebounds.

Larry Sanders, second in the league behind the Thunder's Serge Ibaka with 2.8 blocks per game, will likely miss a fourth straight contest with a sore lower back.

Ibaka, who recorded a season-best eight blocks in Milwaukee last month and is averaging 3.1, will lead the NBA for a second consecutive season.

The Bucks and Thunder last played in Oklahoma City to close out 2010-11, a Milwaukee 110-106 overtime victory April 13, 2011.

Bucks surge past Thunder 95-89 in finale

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) With the Milwaukee Bucks locked into a playoff spot and starting center Larry Sanders nursing a troublesome back, rookie John Henson used the final stretch of the regular season as a big chance to prove himself.

What the first-round draft pick has shown is plenty of potential.

Henson scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, Brandon Jennings had 17 points and the Bucks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 95-89 Wednesday night in a regular-season finale lacking any postseason implications.

Henson, the 14th pick in last year's draft, came up with another huge game after getting 17 points, 25 rebounds and seven blocks in an overtime loss at Orlando a week earlier.

"It means a lot. Guys got hurt down the stretch, so it's my job as a professional in the NBA to come in and the level of play not go down," Henson said. "That's what I've just been trying to do."

Needing to score 70 points to surpass New York's Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant conceded the NBA scoring title and joined starting center Kendrick Perkins and key reserves Kevin Martin and Nick Collison in suits on the Thunder bench.

Russell Westbrook extended the NBA's longest active consecutive games played streak to 394 by playing the first 7 minutes, helping the Thunder score the game's first seven points and build a 20-9 lead.

The Bucks didn't pull ahead until Henson's two-handed slam early in the fourth quarter, during a 27-6 run. He logged 44 minutes and made 11 of 19 shots, showing off a hook shot, and collecting eight offensive rebounds.

"He's one of those guys that just seems to be able to fill that stat sheet," coach Jim Boylan said. "At the end of the game, you always look and he's got some big numbers. It was good for him."

Henson hit a jumper and a pair of free throws to start an 11-0 run that ended with Ish Smith's 3-pointer from the top of the key to tie it at 68 with 32.2 seconds left in the third quarter.

Milwaukee kept going in the final period, as the Thunder missed nine of their first 10 shots, and led by as much as 14.

"John was great. Any time you can get John out on the floor and give him some experience, no matter who he's playing against, that's a good thing," Boylan said.

Reggie Jackson led Oklahoma City with a career-best 23 points. The Thunder were already locked into the top seed in the Western Conference and will open the playoffs at home Sunday against Houston and James Harden, who was traded away before the season.

Oklahoma City dropped to 34-7 at home and ended the season with 60 wins, the fourth-best total in franchise history.

"We're good. I think the confidence is high," starting guard Thabo Sefolosha said. "We've been playing well lately. ... We've been there before but every postseason is different, so we're just going to have to be real focused."

The Bucks, who were assured of the East's No. 8 seed, rested Sanders and fellow starter Ersan Ilyasova (wrist). They will play Sunday at defending champion Miami.

"We've got the best team, obviously the No. 1 seed in Miami," Henson said. "We'll go down there this weekend and try to play them tough."

Jennings gave the Bucks a scare, twisting his ankle and hobbling off the court in the first quarter. But he was able to return early in the second quarter and made five of his first six 3-point attempts.

"Brandon seems to be one of those guys that you see him and he's not that big and then he goes down, and you say to yourself, `Oh, no.' But he always seems to bounce back up," Boylan said. "So, he's got a big heart."

"It was a big relief, a big relief to see him come back in," he added.

Notes: The Bucks' last visit to Oklahoma City also came in a regular-season finale, in 2011, that also had little meaning. The Thunder had clinched a playoff berth and Milwaukee was eliminated from postseason contention prior to a 110-106 victory in Michael Redd's final game with the franchise. ... While sitting out the finale, Durant became the eighth player in NBA history who made at least 50 percent of his field goals, 40 percent of his 3-pointers and 90 percent of his free throws while playing in at least 87.5 percent of his team's games, according to STATS. The others are Steve Nash (four times), Larry Bird (twice), Reggie Miller, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Kerr, Mark Price and Jose Calderon. Kerr and Calderon each had fewer than 150 free-throw attempts when they did it. ... A banner commemorating Oklahoma City's Northwest Division title was unveiled in the rafters.

Notebook: Bucks 95, Thunder 89

THE FACTS: With both teams having secured their playoff positions neither team's starters played very many minutes but the Milwaukee Bucks certainly won't apologize for grabbing a much needed 95-89 win on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Bucks had lost five straight coming into the game and wanted to get back on track before the playoffs. The Thunder just wanted to rest their core group of players.

The Bucks were led by backup center John Henson, who had a monster game with 28 points and 16 rebounds. Milwaukee had three other players in double figures, Brandon Jennings (who logged almost 23 minutes, more than any other regular starter for either team) finished with 17 points and hit five 3-pointers. Mike Dunleavy added 14 and J.J. Redick pumped in 12.

OKC's backup point guard Reggie Jackson had 23 points to lead the Thunder. Kevin Durant did not play and Russell Westbrook was on the floor for only seven minutes. Rookie Perry Jones III started in place of Durant and scored 14 points while pulling down nine rebounds. Rookie Jeremy Lamb added 13 but was just 6-for-21 overall and 0-for-6 on threes.

Neither team shot particularly well, 42.4 percent for Milwaukee and 41.6 percent for Oklahoma City. A bright spot for the Thunder, they turned the ball over only eight times, one of the few times this season they've been in single digits in that category. Both teams will now begin getting ready for playoff action.

QUOTABLE: "There were some positives we can take from this and obviously some things some of our guys need to work on. We had trouble scoring at times and we couldn't hit our threes but all in all we were just focusing on what we have ahead of us in the playoffs."

THE STAT: The Bucks were more efficient from beyond the arc tonight and that's what won the game for them. Milwaukee shot 37 percent (10-for-27) on 3-pointers while Oklahoma City was a miserable 3-for-21 (14.3 percent).

TURNING POINT: A 16-4 run to start the fourth quarter erased a two-point Thunder lead and gave Milwaukee a 10-point cushion with six minutes to play. By that time OKC was basically playing guys who've spent much of the season with the D-League's Tulsa 66ers and they couldn't overcome the Bucks second unit players.

QUOTABLE II: "I wanted to end the season on a positive not for our guys. We've worked hard all year and we've had our ups and downs so I wanted to have a victory to wrap it up so it was good for us tonight."

HOT: The Thunder started the game shooting a blistering 77.8 percent (7-for-9) and finished the first quarter at 58.3 percent (14-for-24)...Henson finished the game 11-for-19...

NOT: Milwaukee got off to a terrible start shooting the ball going just 2-for-7 (28.6 percent) and improved a bit to 36.8 percent (7-for-19 by the end of the quarter...Jackson and Lamb were a combined 0-for-12 on 3-pointers.

INSIDE THE ARENA: The 107th consecutive sell-out inside Chesapeake Energy Arena. A planned street party outside the arena was canceled because of the threat of severe weather in the Oklahoma City metro. By tipoff, several tornadoes had been reported in southwest Oklahoma but none in the OKC area.

GOOD MOVE: Brooks opted to go to a zone defense at the beginning of the game while three of his starters were on the floor. It's a defense OKC has tinkered with off and on this season and tonight over the first eight minutes of the game it worked to perfection holding the Bucks to just 30.8 percent shooting (4-for-13) and 13 points.

NOTABLE: By playing tonight, Westbrook extends his consecutive games played streak to 394, the longest active streak in the NBA.
