After suffering a pair of blowout defeats, the Indiana Pacers should have a decent chance to bounce back against a team they've dominated in recent years.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, though, have been winning since questions arose concerning coach Byron Scott's future.

The Pacers will try to beat Cleveland for the 12th time in 13 meetings on Tuesday night, while the visiting Cavaliers look to match their season-high winning streak.

Indiana (48-29) appeared to be peaking at the right time, winning five straight and eight of nine before losing to Oklahoma City and Washington by a combined 41 points in its last two games.

The Pacers still managed to clinch their first Central Division title in nine years when Chicago lost at Detroit on Sunday, but they've fallen 2 1/2 games behind red-hot New York in the race for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

With only five games remaining, they'll try to regain some ground by posting their sixth straight home win over the Cavaliers (24-52).

That would give Indiana - which has won the first three meetings by an average of 15.3 points - its second series sweep in three seasons.

Cleveland, however, hasn't been the same club since media speculation began that Scott, who is 63-160 in three seasons, may not be back for a fourth.

"To even imagine that, I'm not going down that road," said Kyrie Irving of Scott's possible departure. "I'm focused on finishing the season with him and that's all that matters right now."

Following a season-worst 10th straight loss, the Cavaliers posted consecutive wins over Boston and Orlando to put themselves in position for their first three-game winning streak since Feb. 2-8.

Forward Tristan Thompson has led the way, totaling 44 points and 33 rebounds in the two wins. He also had 20 and 11, respectively, in a 111-90 home loss to Indiana on March 18.

Irving, on the other hand, has struggled in his three games since returning from a shoulder injury, averaging 12.0 points on 12-of-51 shooting (23.5 percent). The All-Star could have a difficult time getting on track in this matchup, since he's totaled 26 points while going 9 of 28 in his two games against the Pacers.

The Cavaliers have averaged just 86.7 points on 37.2 percent shooting in the season series and have failed to score 100 in their last 10 games overall.

While the Pacers rank near the top of the league in both defensive categories, they've allowed 102.8 points - 12.6 above their season average - on 48.6 percent shooting in their last four games.

Paul George had two points and missed all eight of his field goal attempts in a 104-85 loss at Washington on Saturday, but may be able to bounce back since he's averaged a team-best 17.0 points against the Cavaliers.

"I've just got to get my legs back under me," George said. "Just get my mental focus back."

Roy Hibbert has been a force inside, averaging 22.8 points on 59.6 percent shooting and 9.8 rebounds over his last six contests.

Indiana, which leads the NBA in rebounding differential at plus-5.1, has owned a 149-121 margin on the glass in the three wins over Cleveland.

Pacers rally from 20 down to beat Cavaliers 99-94

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) After the Pacers fell behind against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana coach Frank Vogel decided to fire his team up.

Two quick technical in the third quarter did the trick.

"We didn't want to let him down," Paul George said after the Pacers rallied from a 20-point deficit for a 99-94 win over the Cavaliers on Tuesday night.

George Hill scored 27 points and David West added 15 for Indiana. George chipped in with 14 points, Lance Stephenson had 13 and Tyler Hansbrough 12 for the Pacers, who can clinch the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference with a win over Brooklyn on Friday.

Kyrie Irving scored 29 points and Indiana native Tyler Zeller had 18 before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter for Cleveland, which allowed the Pacers to break off a 25-4 run in the fourth for a 93-92 lead.

Irving hit two free throws to put Cleveland up 94-93, but George knocked down a 3-pointer with 29.9 seconds left to put the Pacers back in front. Jeff Pendergraph then drew a charge on Irving on the ensuing possession and Indiana held on.

The Pacers came to life after coach Frank Vogel was ejected in the third quarter for arguing with officials.

"When coach went out, we really had to pull it together," George said. "We knew the fourth quarter is the way we play. We were really struggling.

"We couldn't have three blowouts in a row. We want to close the season out on a good foot."

Irving and Zeller kept the Cavs alive in the first quarter after the Pacers jumped out to a 20-8 lead. Zeller hit three jumpers from the right elbow and finished the quarter with 14 points - nearly double his season average.

The Cavs cut the lead to 29-26 after the first 12 minutes.

Indiana's defense struggled for the third consecutive game before picking it up in the fourth.

"We just gave a couple of shots to them," Cavs coach Byron Scott said. "Transition defense, I think they average 11 for the season and they had 33 tonight. That's the game, simple as that.

"It seems like (we let up). You would think after three times we'd learn, after two times really. But obviously we didn't."

The Cavs led 53-48 at halftime while shooting 51.1 percent from the field and despite just two free throw attempts in the half.

The Pacers shot 31.6 percent from the field in the second quarter and 38.1 percent in the opening half. They ended the first quarter with a shot clock violation and added two more in the first 2:14 of the second. Indiana had five violations in the game.

"That was a crazy one," Vogel said. "Proud of my coaching staff for pulling out the win and pulling the right strings."

Indiana was outscored 31-16 in the third quarter.

Notes: The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the Pacers. ... Cleveland came in ranked 29th in the league NBA in field goal percentage.

THE FACTS: Ordinarily, a home victory over Cleveland would not produce a championship-style celebration at center court, with players jumping on top of each other, hugging and high-fiving. But this was no ordinary victory. Trailing by 20 points with less than nine minutes remaining, George Hill and Paul George sparked a furious rally, combining for 20 points in a 31-6 closing run that lifted Indian to a stunning 99-94 victory over Cleveland Tuesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The comeback started shortly after head coach Frank Vogel picked up two technical fouls and was ejected late in the third quarter, an incident that seemed to bring a much-needed spark to what had been a moribund Indiana performance. Trailing 88-68 with 9:04 remaining, Indiana held Cleveland to 2-for-15 shooting and forced seven turnovers the rest of the way. Hill finished with 27 for Indiana (49-29), while Kyrie Irving scored a game-high 29 for Cleveland (24-53).

THE STAT: This was Indiana's second-biggest comeback of the season. The Pacers trailed New Orleans by 22 in the first half on Dec. 22 but came back to win 81-75.

TURNING POINT: With Vogel in the locker room, associate head coach Brian Shaw used Jeff Pendergraph at center instead of Roy Hibbert to give the team more quickness, particularly in pick-and-roll defense against Irving. The change stymied the Cavs and sparked the Pacers, who scored 17 unanswered points to close to 88-85 with 4:24 remaining. A steal by Lance Stephenson led to a three-point play in transition for Hill to put Indiana in front 93-92 with 46.5 seconds left. Irving made a pair of free throws to put Cleveland back in the lead, but George answered with a corner 3-pointer and Indiana had a 96-94 edge with 29 seconds left. Irving then drove for an apparent three-point play opportunity but Pendergraph stepped in to take the charge, a huge call that was confirmed after the officials reviewed the replay. The Pacers then broke Cleveland's trap and quickly pushed the ball ahead to Pendergraph, who was fouled with 13.1 seconds left. He made one of two, leaving the door open but Wayne Ellington's 3-pointer rimmed in and out with eight seconds left and the verdict was sealed.

HOT: Hill shot 9-for-15, 4-for-5 in the fourth quarter, to spark Indiana. George was 1-for-7 through three quarters but went 3-for-5 in the fourth. Irving shot 1-for-20 for Cleveland, adding seven assists, while Tyler Zeller shot 9-for-17 and scored 18 for the Cavs.

NOT: Indiana's reserves combined to shoot 8-for-28.
