With four days off, the Oklahoma City Thunder have had plenty of time to prepare for one of their biggest games of the season.

While the San Antonio Spurs won't be quite as fresh, they should have mostly everyone available.

The Thunder try to inch closer to catching the Western Conference-leading Spurs as these powerhouses square off Thursday night in Oklahoma.

After winning four of five, Oklahoma City (54-20) finds itself 1 1/2 games behind San Antonio with less than two weeks remaining in the regular season. The well-rested Thunder know winning this game could go a long way in their quest for the West's No. 1 seed, especially considering they would lose the season series if the Spurs win.

"To get four days off is going to help your body and help your mind, just to give you some physical and mental rest is always good," said coach Scott Brooks, whose team hasn't played since winning 109-99 at Milwaukee on Saturday.

"We know we're playing one of the best teams in the league, and we're going to focus on playing well against them. There's no doubt they challenge you in a lot of different ways, but it's good for us. It's always good to play against the best teams down the stretch."

Oklahoma City has outscored the Spurs (56-19) by an average of 12.0 points in taking four straight home matchups, including three victories in last season's conference finals. The Thunder won 107-93 on Dec. 17 behind Serge Ibaka's 25 points and season high-tying 17 rebounds, but that came between a pair of losses at San Antonio.

"I don't look at this next game like it's a must win," said Kevin Martin, who scored 17 points Saturday. "It's a game that we want to win, we want to play well."

While Manu Ginobili remains sidelined due to a hamstring injury, the Spurs could otherwise be at full strength. After sitting out Wednesday's 98-84 win over Orlando, Tony Parker (ankle), Kawhi Leonard (knee) and DeJuan Blair (stomach virus) are all likely to be available.

With those key pieces out, Danny Green stepped up to score 20 points and Gary Neal added 16 off the bench. The Spurs, who limited the Magic to 38.9 percent shooting, improved to 32-2 when holding opponents under 43.5.

After missing Monday's 92-90 loss at Memphis with a sore knee, Tim Duncan returned but played just 14 minutes and had five points.

"We wanted to jump on them and give some of our guys a rest," Green said. "It's always good to get the win first. The rest will hopefully help the team come (Thursday). Guys are sore and banged up a little bit. So hopefully they come out fresh."

San Antonio has lost its only three road games this month and also has dropped three straight when playing the second of games on back-to-back days.

While the Spurs will surely focus on slowing down Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, containing Martin could also prove key. The Thunder have gone 28-4 when he has at least 16 points.

Martin scored 20 in the Dec. 17 win but had 15 and nine, respectively, in the two losses at San Antonio.

Durant has averaged 22.7 points against the Spurs this season - easily his fewest against any West opponent and 5.6 below his NBA-leading mark. He scored 36 in Friday's 101-93 loss at Minnesota, then 30 against the Bucks.

Westbrook recorded his first triple-double of the season Saturday with 23 points, a season best-tying 13 rebounds and 10 assists. He's shot 34.8 percent in this season series.

Thunder top Spurs 100-88 in key West showdown

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A loss to rival Oklahoma City cost the Spurs control of the race for home-court advantage in the Western Conference playoffs. However, that's hardly the chief concern for San Antonio with the regular season winding down.

That All-Star point guard Tony Parker was sidelined yet again in a 100-88 loss to the Thunder on Thursday night looms even larger.

Russell Westbrook scored 27 points, Kevin Durant had 25 and Oklahoma City held off a series of San Antonio comebacks, the last one fizzling as Parker sat on the bench for the last 7 minutes with a shin injury.

"I'm not going to talk about all my stuff. I've got a lot of stuff going on, but I just have to get healthy," said Parker, who was just working his way back into form after missing time with a sprained left ankle.

"It's no excuse. I just have to get healthy."

The Spurs lost for the third time in four games and relinquished of control of the race for the top seed in the West, despite still holding a half-game lead on Oklahoma City. The Thunder pulled even in the loss column and would own the tiebreaker if both teams won out because of a better record against the West.

"We're a team that's been through it. We went to the Finals and the Western Conference finals the last two years, so we know the importance of the playoffs," Durant said. "It's not like this is our first go-around. So, we know we want to play as many games as we can here in Oklahoma City."

Derek Fisher hit a season-high five 3-pointers and had 17 points, his most since joining Oklahoma City in late February, while fueling a big first-half run that put the Thunder ahead to stay.

Kawhi Leonard and Tim Duncan each scored 24 points and had double-doubles for the Spurs. Parker had just two points in 25 minutes, and coach Gregg Popovich pulled him after noticing him limping.

"When he started out, it looked like he had no energy to start the game and then as he went, he looked to me like he was limping," Popovich said. "And then (at the) start of the second half, we saw him coming across half-court actually limping one time, and that's when we pulled him and I said to him, `Tony, you got to stop."'

San Antonio was already playing without sixth man Manu Ginobili (hamstring), who could miss the rest of the regular season, and fellow reserve Stephen Jackson (ankle). Parker wasn't sure whether he'd miss any time with his latest problem.

"We'll see," said Parker, who played 3 minutes in the fourth quarter. "I'll just talk with the medical staff and talk with Pop and try to make the best decision and make sure I'm 100 percent and healthy for the playoffs because that's the most important thing,"

The Thunder took control with a 26-5 surge that started midway through the first quarter, then fended off a series of comebacks as San Antonio tried to rally from 20 points behind in the first half and 14 down in the fourth quarter.

The Spurs got as close as 87-84 following Duncan's layup with 5:54 to play, at the end of a 13-2 run that featured three baskets by Boris Diaw.

Westbrook hit two free throws on two of Oklahoma City's next three possessions, and Durant's 3-pointer from the top of the key provided some cushion at 94-86 with 3:17 left. The Spurs didn't make a basket over the final 4 1/2 minutes, getting only a pair of free throws from Leonard as he split on two trips to the line.

"Obviously, Tony's down, Manu's down, so it's a concern, especially in this part of the season," Duncan said. "But it's part of the game, so we've got to play through it and we've got to find a way to score points and not go through droughts like we did tonight."

The race for first in the West isn't decided yet, with six games left for the Spurs (56-20) and seven to go for Oklahoma City (55-20). Even when they met in last year's West finals, home-court advantage didn't hold up. The Thunder won Game 5 in San Antonio while sweeping the final four games of a six-game series.

"We've got to keep playing. You win this one but drop one tomorrow, you're right back where you were," Oklahoma City's Nick Collison said. "We have to continue to keep playing and try to win them all and see how it shakes out at the end."

While San Antonio has had an NBA-high 13 different players start games and only had its top lineup for 30 games this season, Oklahoma City has had its preferred starting five in 72 of 75 games.

"They've had it a little easier than us health-wise and we're still right in the mix. However many games are left, we'll see how it plays out and hopefully we can see them again in the playoffs," Duncan said.

Leonard had 14 rebounds and Duncan 11. Serge Ibaka had 11 points and 11 boards for Oklahoma City.

Fisher hit four 3-pointers during Oklahoma City's big run, which included 13 straight points immediately after Duncan and Parker checked out for the first time. Durant's transition drive pushed the edge to 41-21 with 7:57 left before halftime.

The Spurs started rallying back as soon as their two stars returned, with reserve Gary Neal scoring 12 points as the deficit dwindled to 52-44 by halftime. But Oklahoma City pushed the lead right back out to 67-48, only for San Antonio to score the final seven points of the third quarter to get within six.

"We just seemed to get right within striking distance and then not able to get over that hump," Duncan said. "Credit to them obviously but we just weren't on our game tonight."

NOTES: The Spurs and Thunder are the only two teams that rank among the top 5 in the NBA in scoring, field-goal percentage, 3-point shooting and free throw accuracy. ... The season series was split, with each team winning both games on its home court. ... Fisher had been 9 for 31 on 3s in his first 17 games with Oklahoma City. He was 5 for 7 in this game. "That's why you stick with your guys. ... He struggled earlier. He's really tough mentally and we want him to shoot those shots," Collison said. "Tonight, he got open looks and made them and that was huge for us. We needed them. The second group, that was pretty much our offense."

THE FACTS: The Oklahoma City Thunder moved to within a half game of first place in the Western Conference playoff race with a thrilling 100-88 win over the San Antonio Spurs at a sold-out and roaring Chesapeake Energy Arena. Thunder All-Stars Russell Westbrook (27) and Kevin Durant (25) combined for 52 points in OKC's 55th win of the season, tying the franchise's top win mark in the Oklahoma City era.

Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard each had 24 for the Spurs. Point guard Tony Parker struggled most of the night with soreness in his shins. He played only two minutes of the fourth quarter before being taken out of the game by Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and finished with just two points on 1-for-6 shooting.

The Spurs (56-20) have one more win than Oklahoma City (55-20) but the teams are now tied in the all-important loss column and for the moment the Thunder own the tie-breaker.

Oklahoma City got a huge night from veteran guard Derek Fisher, who hit four 3-pointers in the first half and another in the second half to finish with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting (5-for-7 on 3-pointers). The rest of the OKC bench managed just seven points, sixth man Kevin Martin had just two points on 1-for-6 shooting. Thabo Sefolosha and Serge Ibaka each had 11 for the Thunder and Ibaka added 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Westbrook had seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals to go along with his 27 points and Durant added nine rebounds, six assists and three blocks to his 25 points. But Durant also had turnover troubles, giving the ball back to San Antonio six times.

Besides Duncan and Leonard, the Spurs only had one other player in double figures, Gary Neal came off the bench to score 14.

Oklahoma City held the Spurs to just 39.8 percent shooting and outscored them 19-3 on the fast break.

THE STAT: Fisher had scored a total of 13 points over his last nine games. Tonight he was 6-for-8 (17 points) off the OKC bench. The rest of the Thunder bench players were a combined 2-for-12 (seven points)

TURNING POINT: A Durant 3-pointer with 3:14 left in the game gave Oklahoma City the breathing room it needed. OKC led by just five points when Durant hit his shot, extending the lead to eight. The Thunder had led by as many as 20 points earlier in the game while going on runs of 23-5 and 15-2.

QUOTABLE III: "I just have to get healthy. I'm not going to talk about all my stuff, I've got a lot of stuff going on but I just have to get healthy. Like I said it's not an excuse and OKC, I give them a lot of credit they played great. Durant was great, Russell played great and they just beat us tonight."

HOT: Thunder finished first quarter with an 8-0 run and shot 54.5 percent in the quarter...Duncan was 4-for-5 in the first quarter...Fisher hit his first four 3-point attempts and finished the half 4-for-5 (12 points).

NOT: San Antonio shot 38.9 percent (7-for-18) in first quarter...Westbrook was 4-for-11 (10 points) in the first half...Parker was 1-for-6 (two points) at halftime...San Antonio shot 38.9 percent in the fourth quarter...OKC hit just 35 percent.

INSIDE THE ARENA: The 104th consecutive sellout inside Chesapeake Energy Arena. Among those in the crowd Emmy Award winning actor William H. Macy,who is in Oklahoma City shooting a movie.

GOOD MOVE: Parker and Tiago Splitter had hurt the Thunder in earlier games this season so OKC worked on ways to slow them down during their extended practice time this past week. In the first half it worked well, Parker was 1-for-6 (two points) and Splitter was 0-for-2.

GOOD MOVE, TOO: The Spurs wanted to limit OKC's trips to the free throw line by defending well but not fouling. Mission accomplished in the first three quarters. The Thunder came in leading the NBA in average free throws made (22.8) and attempted (27.6) per game. Going into the fourth quarter OKC had attempted only seven free throws, making six. Oklahoma City finished 12-for-13 at the line, a little less than half their average.

NOTABLE: The Spurs were playing their fourth game in five nights while the Thunder were playing for the first time in five nights. Oklahoma City now controls its own destiny, win out and the Thunder have the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
