After a forgettable showing in their first game out of the All-Star break, the Los Angeles Clippers returned to their high-flying ways.

They seemingly shouldn't have any trouble putting together another strong performance against the Charlotte Bobcats and their vulnerable defense.

The Pacific Division-leading Clippers look for a sixth win in seven games Tuesday night against the Bobcats at Staples Center.

Los Angeles (40-18) went into the break riding a four-game winning streak while averaging 110.0 points and 52.7 percent shooting. Playing for the first time since Chris Paul won All-Star game MVP honors, the Clippers came out flat in a 116-90 home loss to San Antonio on Thursday, but bounced back two nights later with a 107-94 victory over Utah.

Caron Butler scored 21 while Blake Griffin and Lamar Odom added 18 points each for Los Angeles, which shot 51.3 percent and led by as many as 21.

"We were just a lot more focused," guard Chauncey Billups said. "That San Antonio game left a really bad taste in our mouth."

Odom came out inspired, shooting 8 of 15 to reach a season high in points to go with six rebounds in 23 minutes. The 14-year veteran had totaled 13 points in his previous six games.

"I'm starting to get my legs underneath me. I'm just trying to stay at it, work hard," he said. "I'm trying to fit in and do whatever I can do to help the team win."

Another victory certainly appears to be in reach considering the Bobcats (13-43) have dropped 10 of 12 road games, with both victories coming over hapless Orlando.

The Bobcats, opening a four-game trip, allow an average of 102.8 points to rank 28th in the league, and they've been even worse on defense lately.

They've given up at least 105 points each time in losing their last three while allowing opponents to shoot 51.0 percent. Those contests were all at home and two came against subpar offensive teams in Detroit and Chicago.

Now they face a Clippers club that has scored at least 106 points in four of its last five and is 23-3 when getting at least 102.

Some of Charlotte's problems in a 113-99 loss to Denver on Saturday stemmed from it turning the ball over 18 times, leading to 23 points for the Nuggets.

"We had a lot of turnovers that led to a lot of fast-break points for them," said rookie Jeffery Taylor, who had a season-high 18 points. "We usually keep our turnover count down, so that was a little uncharacteristic for us."

Protecting the ball could again be difficult, however, as the Clippers are forcing a league-best 16.7 turnovers.

Although the Bobcats struggled defensively Saturday, Kemba Walker again played well with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting for his fourth straight 20-point game. He is averaging 24.8 points and 53.0 percent from the field during the surge after averaging 11.0 and 33.9 in his previous five.

Byron Mullens has cooled off considerably following a hot stretch, totaling six points and shooting 2 of 21 in his last two games. The 7-foot forward had averaged 19.2 points - 6.7 better than his season average - in his previous six contests.

He had a team-high 19 points to go with nine rebounds in a 100-94 loss to Los Angeles on Dec. 12, while Walker scored 17.

Paul, Griffin and Matt Barnes each scored 19 for the Clippers, who have won the last four in the series by an average of 12.7 points.

Clippers blow out Bobcats 106-84

LOS ANGELES (AP) With the NBA's worst team in town, the Los Angeles Clippers were conscious not to play down to the Bobcats' level.

Blake Griffin scored 24 points, keying a decisive second-quarter burst that put the Clippers in command en route to a 106-84 victory Tuesday night that improved their home record to 23-6.

Matt Barnes added 17 points off the bench, Caron Butler had 16 points, DeAndre Jordan 13, and Chris Paul had 13 of the Clippers' season-high 34 assists for their sixth win in seven games. The Bobcats managed just 17 assists.

"We tried to attack early and be aggressive," Paul said. "We have to let our defense dictate our offense. Our defense is so amazing. We got two dynamic bigs in D.J. and Griffin who can block shots. When we get stops we're tough in transition because we've got high flyers."

Gerald Henderson tied his season high with 24 points and Kemba Walker had 15 points for Charlotte, which has lost four straight and 12 of 14 while falling to 7-23 on the road.

"We're giving heavy minutes to a lot of young guys, and that's a lot of seeds in the earth that will eventually be harvested," Bobcats coach Mike Dunlap said.

The Clippers put together a 21-6 run over the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth that extended their lead to 91-63 - largest of the game. Lamar Odom ended the third with a 3-pointer and opened the fourth with another for six points in the spurt. Griffin had five points and Grant Hill three.

Griffin was involved in two highlights during that stretch. Jordan blocked a shot, Paul grabbed the ball and fed Griffin on the break for a left-handed dunk and a foul that resulted in a three-point play. Barnes set Griffin up on the break with an alley-oop pass that the All-Star converted into a layup.

"DeAndre and Blake are two of the best athletes you've got in the league," Henderson said. "If you don't put a body on them and be physical with them, they're going to play over the top of the rim."

The Clippers rallied with a 15-2 run to take a 54-45 lead going into halftime. Jordan scored their first five points, including a fast-break dunk off Chauncey Billups' behind-the-back pass that gave the Clippers their first lead since the game's opening basket.

"That's what I do," Billups said. "I seen him coming so hard. I knew I could get it there, I was just hoping he could see it."

Butler hit a 3-pointer and Griffin scored the final seven points. Paul fed Griffin for two straight alley-oop dunks and Griffin closed things out with a fast-break driving dunk.

"We did a good job after that initial first quarter," said Griffin, who had seven rebounds and six assists. "When we get out and get easy buckets it gets us going."

Charlotte controlled the first quarter, shooting 59 percent to lead 30-24. Henderson had 10 of his team's first 14 points.

"For 20 minutes we played fantastic basketball," Dunlap said. "We had the lead, but we made some turnovers that they made some dunks off of, and that brought the crowd into the game. That ignited them and it carried over into the second half."

Notes: The Bobcats finished the month of February with just two wins (over Boston and Orlando). ... Clippers backup G Jamal Crawford had the night off after his wife gave birth to their daughter, London Faith, on Monday in Seattle. He will rejoin the team for its game at Indiana on Thursday. ... Clippers reserve G Eric Bledsoe sat out with a sore left calf he injured last week against San Antonio. He's day-to-day. ... The Bobcats haven't beaten the Clippers in Los Angeles since Feb. 28, 2009.

THE FACTS: The Clippers were without two of their top reserves, Jamal Crawford and Eric Bledsoe, but with a starting lineup that features two All-Stars, they figured to have enough firepower to light up the lowly Bobcats anyway. And so they did. Blake Griffin finished with 24 points and Chris Paul distributed 13 assists -- most leading to flashy dunks by Griffin and DeAndre Jordan -- and the Clippers sailed away late in the first half for a 106-84 victory at Staples Center.

THE STAT: The Clippers recorded a season-high 34 assists on 41 field goals. Matt Barnes (seven) and Chauncey Billups (five) also produced individual season highs, helping cover for the absence of Bledsoe, the backup point guard who sat out with a sore left calf. Barnes also replaced Crawford (birth in the family) as the first player off the bench and he scored 17 points while matching his season high with four steals.

TURNING POINT: After trailing most of the first half against the league's worst team, the Clippers finally came alive behind a variety of lob passes from Paul to Griffin. Leading by three late in the opening half, Paul collected a loose ball and let go of a lob from the Charlotte 3-point line. The pass came in a slightly short, but Griffin still had enough spring to catch the ball on the way up and throw it down for 50-45 lead. Josh McRoberts then checked into the game for the Bobcats and tried to body up on Griffin, but he spun off the Charlotte forward and slammed another lob from Paul. Griffin wasn't finished, culminating a fast break with another dunk for a 54-45 lead that L.A. carried into the half. Charlotte never got closer than seven the rest of the way.

HOT: In addition to the All-Stars, Griffin and Paul, and the wily veterans, Barnes and Billlups, the Clippers received another splendid performance from Jordan, who made all six of his field-goal attempts and scored 13 points to go with four blocked shots. Gerald Henderson had the hot hand for the Bobcats, matching his season high with 24 points.

NOT: He might be the youngest player in the NBA, but Charlotte rookie forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has held his own through the first four months of the season. Kidd-Gilchrist, who turned 19 in September, surpassed his season average of 9.1 points during the previous three games, but he went scoreless Tuesday night for the first time this season, missing his only two field-goal attempts while playing 22 minutes. Kemba Walker came into the game with four straight games of 20 or more points, but the Charlotte point guard shot 5-for-15 and scored 15 to put an end to that streak.

GOOD MOVE: Right up with all the highlight-reel dunks by Griffin and Jordan was a spectacular play by Billups that gave the Clippers the lead for good. Walker had driven under the Charlotte basket and attempted to pass the ball out toward the top of the key, but Billups intercepted the pass and set out on a fast break. Billups, who was forced into backup point guard duty with the absence Bledsoe, pulled up at the top of his 3-point line and made a left-handed behind-the-back pass to a cutting Jordan, who finished with one of the 10 first-half slam dunks for the Clippers, giving them a 43-42 lead with 3:50 remaining in the first half.

BAD MOVE: Henderson made his first five field-goal attempts, all in the game's first five minutes, helping the Bobcats to their early lead. Instead of continuing to feed the hot hand, Walker looked elsewhere on the next three possessions, just long enough for Henderson to cool off.

NOTABLE: Clippers reserve forward Lamar Odom shot 2-for-3 from 3-point range, the second time this season he has made multiple 3s in a game and the first time he has made at least one in back-to-back games since last February. ... Griffin has recorded at least 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists in six consecutive games. Only David Lee of the Warriors has a longer streak this season (nine). ... The Bobcats fell to 6-6 when leading after the first quarter.
