The Miami Heat are the reigning NBA champions, and their current winning streak only reinforces their status as a contender for back-to-back titles.

For now, they'll just try to continue their dominance of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The visiting Heat try to record just their second double-digit win streak of the past seven seasons Saturday night when they go for a 12th straight regular-season victory over the 76ers.

Miami (38-14) is pulling away in the Eastern Conference thanks to a nine-game winning streak that includes victories over the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City, the team it defeated in last year's NBA finals. Including those two wins, each of the last six have been decided by double figures.

The Heat, who are closing a four-game road trip, are averaging 105.2 points on 51.4 percent shooting over the last nine games. Their only longer win streak since the start of the 2006-07 season was a 12-game run Nov. 29-Dec. 18, 2010.

"We all had a vision of how this team was going to really operate together, but there is no limit," center Chris Bosh said. "We can continue to get better. We can continue to play better together. Our defense can continue to improve. If we want to win in the postseason, it's going to have to."

The defense was superb in Thursday's 86-67 win at Chicago, yielding a season low in scoring and forcing 27 turnovers while limiting the Bulls to 37.3 percent from the field. Opponents are averaging 92.7 points and 17.8 turnovers during the Heat's winning streak.

"We're putting together some good basketball right now," said LeBron James, who had 26 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. "We're defending. We're creating turnovers. We're winning the turnover game offensively. We're the best shooting team in the league ... so if we don't turn the ball over, we get good shots at the rim, we could also have a good chance to win."

Facing the 76ers (22-30) should also increase those chances.

The Heat's only loss in the past 16 meetings came in a 2011 first-round playoff series. They've won 11 straight over Philadelphia in the regular season dating to March 15, 2009, including four last season while limiting the 76ers to an average of 85.5 points.

James scored 41 in the most recent matchup, a 99-93 home win April 3.

The Sixers have dropped four of five while averaging 85.0 points on 40.1 percent shooting. The All-Star break didn't seem to help, returning Wednesday only to see their losing streak reach three games with a 94-87 defeat at Minnesota.

Coach Doug Collins realizes they'll have to play much better to have a chance against the Heat.

"I never put any more on one win over another," Collins said. "Miami is playing fantastic basketball. They've won nine in a row. They're very, very active defensively. Everybody talks about their offense, but the best part of who they are is their defense."

Jrue Holiday is averaging 14.0 points - five below his season average - over the past three games while hitting 35.4 percent from the field. The All-Star guard scored 9.0 per game and shot 30.8 percent in last season's series with the Heat.

Evan Turner has totaled 37 points in the last two games, and he had 26 in the most recent versus Miami.

LeBron's triple-double lifts Heat over 76ers

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Before he took a seat on the bench, LeBron James made sure to grab one more rebound.

James had 16 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds for his 35th career triple-double and the Miami Heat cruised to their 10th straight win, 114-90 over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

The three-time NBA MVP knew he was one board away from a special night so he went after it hard early in the fourth quarter. After Chris Anderson blocked Evan Turner's shot, James hauled it in, drove up court and banked a shot in for good measure.

"I was going to stay out there until I got it," James said. "I wasn't going to let this one slip away. I've had too many games where I was one assist, one rebound away. I wasn't coming out."

Dwyane Wade had 33 points, Mario Chalmers scored 14 and Chris Bosh added 13 to help the defending NBA champions improve to 39-14. The Heat have a comfortable 5 1/2-game lead over Indiana in the Eastern Conference.

They've won four in a row on the road, including impressive wins over Oklahoma City before the All-Star break and Chicago on Thursday.

"It was a professional win," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "LeBron started it with his unselfishness, finding the open guy, making it contagious. Then it was an efficient shooting night."

Jrue Holiday scored 21 points and Nick Young had 19 for Philadelphia, which continues to fall further behind in the playoff chase. The Sixers entered 3 1/2 games behind Milwaukee for the No. 8 spot in the East.

A rare sellout crowd turned out for the nightcap of an NHL/NBA doubleheader at the Wells Fargo Center to see James, Wade and Co. There were even scalpers outside the arena selling tickets before the game for one of the few big draws of the season.

Fans roared when Spencer Hawes rejected James' shot late in the first quarter, swatting the ball back in his face.

Many of the same people jumped to their feet and cheered when James threw down a thunderous dunk off an alley-oop pass from Norris Cole late in the third quarter. By that time, the Heat were up 85-63 and the crowd was more interested in seeing James make a highlight play than rooting for the Sixers.

"He's so big and strong and powerful. He decides when he wants to be a passer or a scorer," Sixers coach Doug Collins said.

James got his first "Ooohs" and "Ahhhs" after a no-look backdoor pass to Bosh for an easy layup in the first. Chalmers followed with a rainbow 3-pointer and a reverse lay-up to give the Heat a 24-22 lead and they never trailed again.

"I get more pleasure out of kicking the ball than scoring," James said.

After registering his third triple-double of the season and seventh since joining the Heat, James got a mixture of cheers and boos when he went to the bench with 10:15 left.

Wade came in after a brief rest and continued his hot shooting, scoring six straight points on a driving layup, two free throws and a long jumper. He was 12 of 14 at that point before missing a 3-pointer.

"I think we're better than last season because we understand each other a lot more," Bosh said. "Everyone is coming together as a team and we feel comfortable with each other. I think we're starting to play like we know we're capable of playing. It's shown in this win streak. Even with the break, we've continued to play well. I think if we keep playing at this type of level, the sky is the limit for us."

While the Heat are gearing up to make a run at a repeat, the Sixers have lost four straight to fall a season-worst nine games below .500 at 22-31.

"In the first half, we did a lot of things well," Holiday said. "We have to sustain that for 48 minutes."

It's been a disappointing year for Philadelphia, which knocked off top-seeded Chicago in the first round of the playoffs a year ago and then took Boston to seven games in the conference quarterfinals.

A season that began with promise after the acquisition of center Andrew Bynum quickly fell apart. Bynum has yet to play a game this season because of bone bruises in both knees. He said earlier in the week he plans to play at some point. At this rate, it won't matter much for the Sixers.

"Holiday is a great player, but he needs help," James said. "We all thought Bynum would be a huge piece for them."

Notes: The Flyers beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-3 in an afternoon hockey game. ... The Heat have won 12 straight regular-season games against Philadelphia. The Sixers won one playoff game against Miami in the first round of the 2011 playoffs. ... Heat G Mike Miller remained in Miami because of ear problems resulting from a head cold. He's missed three straight games. ... James has scored in double figures in 472 straight games, sixth-best in NBA history.

THE FACTS: Dwyane Wade and LeBron James carried the Miami Heat to their 10th consecutive victory following a 24-point rout of the Philadelphia 76ers, 114-90, before a sellout crowd of 20,665 Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Wade had a sensational shooting night, going 14-for-18 for a game-high 33 points while James earned his 35th career triple-double with the Heat after compiling 16 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Mario Chalmers scored 14 points and Chris Bosh had 13 for the Heat, who improved to 39-14, the best record in the Eastern Conference. Ray Allen and Norris Cole also added 12 points each off the bench.

The Sixers (22-31) continue to spiral in the wrong direction following their fourth consecutive loss. Jrue Holiday scored 21 points and Nick Young added 19 points. Dorell Wright scored 17 points and Evan Turner had 16 for the Sixers, who have dropped two in a row since the All-Star break to fall a season-worst nine games under .500.

QUOTABLE: "We had our chances and we took advantage of them. When we're moving the ball like that, we're a very, very good team."

THE STAT: The Sixers were not credited with any fast break points. The Sixers are averaging 12.3 fast break points per game this season.

TURNING POINT: The Heat built a 56-47 lead at halftime and then outscored the Sixers 31-24 in the third. Miami won every quarter but that third quarter was the difference.

HOT: Wade knocked down 14 of his 18 shots while James was 7-for-12. The Heat shot 58.4 percent as a team -- 45-for-77.

NOT: Spencer Hawes missed four of his five shots while Lavoy Allen was 2-for-7. It was a fairly empty night for the Sixers' big men.

QUOTABLE II: "That team is big-time good. They're a great, great team. I don't see any weaknesses."

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: James had his third triple-double of the season and the 35th of his career with 16 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds.

INSIDE THE ARENA: There was an electric crowd of 20,665 for this anticipated matchup against the Heat. The fans were loud and enthusiastic from the opening tip to the final buzzer, though those cheers turned to boos following a 24-point loss by the home team. A number of Philadelphia Flyers' players took in the action from a suite. The Flyers defeated the Winnipeg Jets, 5-3, earlier Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center.

QUOTABLE III: "I don't need to score for us to win. Every time I drove, I had two or three guys coming at me and I was looking to move the ball."

GOOD MOVE: The Heat monitored James' minutes and allowed him to get some much-needed rest. With 29 regular season games remaining, the Heat are smart enough to realize they'll need James to be as fresh as possible.

BAD MOVE: The Sixers could have played a more physical style against Wade and James. They're not a physical team on a consistent basis, but on this night, it might have been wise to put some extra pressure on Miami's dynamic duo.

ROOKIE WATCH: Heat forward Jarvis Varnado was scoreless in 2:57. For the Sixers, forward Arnett Moultrie had three rebounds in 6:50.

NOTABLE: Heat guard Mike Miller didn't make the trip to Philadelphia because of sinus and ear infections. ... Wade has scored 30 or more points in three of the past eight games. ... Turner had the Sixers' lone steal. It was a floor record for least number of steals by a team, dating to 1996 when the arena opened. ... The Sixers have scored below 93 points in each of the past nine games. ... The Heat shot a season-high 58.4 percent from the field. They are 24-2 when shooting 50 percent or better. ... The Sixers are 0-12 when allowing the opponent to shoot 50 percent or better. ... Holiday has scored 20 or more points 20 times this season. ... Eight of Miami's 10 straight wins have been by double figures. ... Injured Sixers center Andrew Bynum practiced with the team last Friday for the first time this season.
