The Oklahoma City Thunder have one of the NBA's most efficient offenses - their last game notwithstanding.

While that's usually enough to frustrate opponents, their defense is catching up to their high-powered attack.

Coming off one of their best defensive showings, the Thunder go for a fifth straight win Tuesday night when they visit a Utah Jazz team merely trying to regain its footing.

Oklahoma City (39-12) has won its last four games all by at least 21 points, and 13 of 17. The Thunder routed Phoenix 127-96 on Friday, and two days later beat the Suns 97-69 in Arizona. They held Phoenix to 33.0 percent shooting while forcing 23 turnovers on Sunday.

Thanks to that performance, Oklahoma City is allowing an average of 88.5 points during its winning streak.

"We are just trying to focus on us every single day and how we can be better and playing up to our standards, which is defense first," said Kevin Durant, who had 18 points - his second-lowest total of the season - in just 29 minutes.

The Thunder, the NBA's top-scoring team at 106.4 per game, failed to reach 100 points for just the third time in 14 games, but some of that had to do with the outcome being in little doubt and the regulars coming out early. Russell Westbrook had 24 points in 28 minutes and Thabo Sefolosha added a season-high 20, knocking down a career-best five 3-pointers.

"The thing about our team, we have guys who can come in and do a good job when needed," coach Scott Brooks said. "There are some guys who don't get to play, but it's nice for them to get opportunities."

The Thunder have won six of seven against Utah, including a 106-94 victory on Nov. 30. Durant led the way with 25 points while Westbrook put together an unusual statline with 23 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, eight turnovers and seven steals.

The Jazz (28-24) had won 10 of 11 home games before a 93-89 loss to Chicago on Friday, then took a 120-109 beating at Sacramento on Saturday.

Utah trailed by as many as 20 points and Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap were essentially rendered ineffective due to foul trouble, combining for only 22 points and 11 rebounds in less than 40 minutes. The duo averages a combined 32.3 points and 16.8 rebounds.

Their limited minutes also hurt Utah's interior defense, as the squad allowed a season-high 26 second-chance points.

The Jazz got a lift from Alec Burks' career-high 24 points off the bench, though it wasn't enough to overcome Sacramento's 51.8 percent shooting.

"It was a tough situation for Al and me when we are both trying to win a basketball game," Millsap said. "It happens. We just dropped two in a row. These last two games this week are important for us going into the (All-Star) break."

Millsap is averaging 13.3 points in his last four games against the Thunder after averaging 25.5 in his previous four.

Oklahoma City's Kevin Martin, averaging 23.6 points over his last 12 contests against the Jazz, sat out Sunday with the flu, and his status is uncertain.

Jefferson helps Jazz cool off Thunder 109-94

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Kevin Durant had not been called for a flagrant foul in his six-year professional career.

That changed Tuesday night when his frustration boiled over during a 109-94 loss to the Utah Jazz.

His body-check on Alec Burks sent the second-year pro flying out of bounds with 6:06 remaining.

By then the outcome was basically decided, with Al Jefferson scoring 23 points and Paul Millsap 18 to lead the Jazz to a victory.

Utah stopped a two-game losing run and ended the Thunder's four-game winning streak.

"You didn't watch the game? They outrebounded us. They scored in the paint. We turned the ball over. We just gave them the game. They executed on everything they did," Durant said.

"We just got to be better. We made some bone-headed plays. I know I did. We just have to be better."

While a team without a single All-Star showed it can compete with the best, Oklahoma City finds itself regrouping for a big game on Thursday.

The Thunder head home for an NBA Finals rematch with Miami, which has beaten them five straight times going back to June's title series.

The Thunder will try to find the form that had them leading the league in scoring (106.4), free throw shooting (.829) and had routed its past four opponents by an average of 25.3 points.

Instead of sitting starters because they were ahead by so much, head coach Scott Brooks pulled his Tuesday with about 5 1/2 minutes remaining because it was a blowout the other way.

Durant blamed himself, even though he scored a team-high 33 points on 11-of-16 shooting, with six rebounds, five assists and four steals. He also had four turnovers.

"I turned the ball over too much," he said. "I didn't help rebound enough. I lead our team. I got to ignite the guys. I got to do better having guys follow me. I got to do better as communicating on the floor as well.

"We have to be better in every aspect. Energy. Effort. Rebounding. Passing. Not turning the ball. We just have to be better. I think we will. We got a team that does a great job of bouncing back and learning from our mistakes."

The Jazz showed they can do that after dropping back-to-back games against Chicago and Sacramento.

Before the game, Millsap said the Jazz were desperate for a win.

"It's a statement win," said DeMarre Carroll, who had 13 points, three rebounds and three steals off the bench for Utah and keyed a big second quarter.

Utah's bench outscored Oklahoma City's 49-25, and the Jazz bigs dominated the boards, holding a 16-7 edge on offensive rebounds and 38-26 advantage overall.

The Thunder also committed 20 turnovers.

The game was scrappy from the start.

Jefferson poked the ball away for a steal in the first quarter and ended up getting poked in the eye so hard it left him sprawled on the floor for about a minute.

Kendrick Perkins was called for a flagrant foul and technical foul, and Carroll and Durant drew double technicals after getting into a little shoving match after Durant's flagrant on Burks.

"It was part of the game," Durant said of his play against Burks. "I'm not a dirty player or anything like that. It was just part of the game. I'm sure they would have done the same thing to me."

He has 10 technicals on the season.

The Jazz led by seven entering the fourth but quickly put the game away, opening on a 6-0 run, with two more baskets from Jefferson.

The Thunder were already down 17 when Durant bumped Burks hard.

Burks, who had a career night in Saturday's loss, was undeterred going against Durant.

"We all know he's a great player but you can't be scared of anybody," said Burks, who added 13 points, five rebounds and two assists.

In the first meeting, Oklahoma City dominated, winning by 12.

A fifth straight win by 20 or more Tuesday would have broken a franchise record.

Instead the Thunder suffered their first loss since Feb. 2 at Cleveland.

While Utah's bigs made a big difference, Jefferson outscoring Perkins 23-4 and Millsap outscoring Serge Ibaka 18-10, Utah got the boost from its bench it needed.

Derrick Favors added 15 points and Earl Watson finished with six.

After being embarrassed early on by Russell Westbrook, who opened 5 of 5 from the field, Jazz point guard Jamaal Tinsley put Utah up 75-63 with a pair of 3-pointers.

A steal by Tinsley then set up Millsap at the other end, giving Utah an 80-67 lead with 2:57 left in the third.

"Nights like this happen," said Westbrook, who added 22 points but had seven turnovers. "You aren't going to play perfect most of the year. Nights like this happen. You just got to get ready for next game."

Oklahoma City shot nearly 56 percent, while the Jazz were at 48.3 percent. But Utah took 19 more shots thanks to the big edge in rebounding.

The win gave the Jazz 20 victories at home this season. They head to Minnesota before the All-Star break, and should get two of their top playmakers back shortly thereafter in point guard Mo Williams and third-leading scorer Gordon Hayward.

"I think that was the biggest game of the year for us, especially coming off two losses," Watson said. "They are a great team, but we didn't give them too much respect. We respect them as opponents, but we went out to win the game."

NOTES: Hayward will rest his sprained right shoulder through the All-Star break after getting through only three-fourths of practice Monday before feeling pain passing across his body. ... Jazz PG Williams headed to New York on Tuesday night and was scheduled to have two pins removed from his surgically repaired right thumb Wednesday. If all goes well, Corbin said it's just a matter of Williams getting mobility back in his hand. He will be fitted with a support brace. There was no timetable for his return but he will have missed 26 games because of the injury (30 overall) through the break. ... Thunder G Kevin Martin was back in action after sitting out Sunday's game with flu-like symptoms. ... Thunder G Jeremy Lamb remained inactive with a lower-back strain. ... Tuesday was the Thunder's first loss this season when shooting more than 50 percent.

THE FACTS: No team was hotter in the Western Conference before Tuesday night than the Oklahoma City Thunder.

But the Utah Jazz delivered what was essentially a cold shower for Oklahoma City by outhustling, outplaying and outrebounding the defending Western Conference champions. Utah stunningly routed the Thunder 109-94, snapping their four-game winning streak in which it won each game by more than 20 points.

The Thunder were never in position to blow the Jazz out though. Their biggest lead was five points, and they trailed the entire second half.

Al Jefferson had 23 points and seven rebounds, while Paul Millsap had 18 points and 10 boards to lead the Jazz. Kevin Durant led Oklahoma City with 33 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Russell Westbrook had 22 points and five assists.

QUOTABLE: "We want to play aggressive, but be smart about it. We're not doing anything crazy. We're not out there trying to hurt anybody, but we want to play with a certain sense of urgency and a certain level of aggressiveness. That's who we want to be and that's who we are."

THE STAT: The Jazz demolished the Thunder on the boards, holding a 38-26 rebounding advantage. But what really killed Oklahoma City was the number of offensive rebounds (16) that Utah collected. The Jazz's work on the offensive glass helped them earn second-chance possessions, and they took a whopping 19 more shot attempts than Oklahoma City. Utah outhustled and was more aggressive than the Thunder to get in the right positions to grab offensive boards.

TURNING POINT: The Thunder started building momentum late in the third quarter, but the Jazz blew the game open in the fourth quarter. Utah, which led 86-79 at the end of the third, outscored Oklahoma City 18-4 in the first 6:37 of the fourth. Alec Burks led Utah's charge, scoring six of Utah's points, while Jefferson and Derrick Favors each added four. Oklahoma City missed eight of its first 10 shots and committed three turnovers as the Jazz built a 104-83 lead. After the Jazz went up by 21 with 5:23 remaining, Durant and Westbrook went to the bench for the rest of the game.

HOT: The Jazz's bench was again one of the team's strengths. They outscored Oklahoma City's reserves 49-25. Favors helped set Utah's aggressive tone in the first quarter by attacking the Thunder in the paint, and he finished with 15 points and three rebounds. Burks (13 points) and DeMarre Carroll (13 points) played well and scored in double figures. Earl Watson had little trouble sticking with Oklahoma City's younger and more athletic point guards, and finished with six points on 3-for-3 shooting, five assists, four rebounds and a steal. Reggie Jackson was the lone Thunder reserve to score in double figures as he tied a career high of 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Durant almost single-handedly got the Thunder back in the game in the third quarter. He scored 16 of his points, made all of his three 3-point attempts and got Oklahoma City within five points.

NOT: Thabo Sefolosha was on fire entering Tuesday's game, but was a no-show against the Jazz. He averaged 19 points and made nine 3-pointers in his previous two games. Against the Jazz, he shot 0-for-2 from 3-point range and went scoreless. Westbrook had an outstanding start against the Jazz, making his first five shots. But after the first time he was substituted, he shot 3-for-9 and committed a game-high seven turnovers. Only Marvin Williams had an off night for the Jazz as he shot 0-for-4 and scored just two points.

GOOD MOVE: It was a vintage, blueprint type of win for Utah as the Jazz played their style of basketball -- physical, inside-out, aggressive and energetic in front of their home crowd. They shared the ball, recording 10 more assists than the Thunder. They also forced Oklahoma City into a sloppy game, as the Thunder had 20 turnovers. Utah put bodies on the Thunder, and made them take difficult shots. The Jazz's defense created easy scoring opportunities on offense.

BAD MOVE: Oklahoma City lost its composure early and never seemed to regain it. Center Kendrick Perkins seemed to want to be more of a tough guy than a basketball player on Tuesday. He was whistled for a technical foul for something he said to one of the officials early in the game. He later got a flagrant one for a foul on Jefferson. Perhaps most surprising was the antics of Durant, who was whistled for the first flagrant foul of his career for a hard foul on Burks in transition in the fourth quarter. It was Durant's 10th technical foul this season.

NOTABLE: Randy Foye suffered a right quad contusion after a collision with Hasheem Thabeet, but returned to the game and played effectively. He had 11 points and two assists. Foye has made a 3-pointer in 20 straight games. Utah improved to 9-3 when Carroll scores in double figures. Millsap tied a season-high with six assists. Jamaal Tinsley tied a season-high with four steals. It was the first time this season Oklahoma City lost after shooting better than 50 percent. It shot 55.9 percent against the Jazz.
