The Houston Rockets appear to be back on track after their longest losing streak of the season, but their next challenge will be a difficult one.

A third consecutive victory won't come easy Monday night as the Rockets try to prevent the Utah Jazz from a seventh straight home win.

Houston (24-22) has won two in a row and three of four after a seven-game skid. The Rockets' offense was slowed down during the slump, averaging 93.3 points per game compared to their 104.4 mark on the season, which is tied for second in the NBA.

But the Rockets are averaging 103.5 over their last four games, including a 119-106 win against Brooklyn on Saturday. James Harden scored 29 points as Houston claimed significant advantages in rebounding (50-31) and points in the paint (60-24).

Jeremy Lin credited a film session on Thursday for helping right the ship.

"We weren't doing what we were supposed to do," said Lin, who had 14 points and nine assists. "The coaches showed us a few days ago what we can look like. That was a nice reminder to all of us."

Houston also had 31 assists - one shy of a season high - and only 12 turnovers, its fewest since Jan. 2. Seventeen of the team's first 20 field goals were assisted.

"Our spacing was unbelievable," said Chandler Parsons, whose 11 assists were a career high. "It allowed more guys to penetrate, it allowed more guys to have open shots and we really moved the ball great."

The Rockets' transition offense had slowed during the losing streak, averaging 15.4 fast-break points over seven games. They're up to 24.0 fast-break ppg in the last four, including 27 in the win against the Nets.

"It's how we need to play," coach Kevin McHale said. "But we've got to be determined to do it. You've got to be determined when you're tired. You've got to be determined when things aren't going (well), you've got to be determined to just keep on going."

The Jazz (24-20) have won five of six overall and six in a row at home, matching the season-best streak they started the year with. They're 15-4 at EnergySolutions Arena where they average 102.2 ppg while allowing 95.7, numbers that are nearly flipped on the road at 95.8 and 101.0.

Utah's home streak appeared to be in jeopardy on Saturday when they went to overtime against the Pacers after blowing an eight-point lead with less than three minutes left in regulation. The collapse saw Gordon Hayward turn it over on each of the Jazz's final three possessions, but they eventually claimed a 114-110 victory.

"We made some mistakes, and we've got to get better there," coach Tyrone Corbin said. "But the fight these guys showed and have shown all year is really encouraging."

Hayward is day-to-day after spraining his shoulder when he ran into a hard screen, though x-rays were negative. His six turnovers tied a career high.

"You have to move on," said Hayward, Utah's third-leading scorer at 13.5 ppg. "You can't worry about the past. My teammates did a good job of bailing me out from some bad plays."

Hayward scored a game-high 21 off the bench but Utah lost 124-116 at Houston on Dec. 1. The Jazz held the Rockets to 34.9 percent from the field in a 102-91 victory on Nov. 19 as part of their season-opening six-game home streak.

Rockets hand Jazz worst home loss, 125-80

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) The Houston Rockets had plenty of trouble getting to Salt Lake City as a blizzard left them grounded for a while in western Colorado.

Once they arrived, they made the Jazz pay, rolling to a 125-80 victory on Monday night and handing Utah the most-lopsided home loss in franchise history.

"We could have had Michael Jordan in his prime with us tonight . and it wouldn't have mattered (the way we played)," Jazz center Al Jefferson lamented.

"It was like everything went wrong. They came ready to play. I don't know where our energy was."

The Rockets, after recently suffering through a seven-game slide, are out of that funk. They have now won three straight and four of their last five.

"That's the way we have to play," Houston coach Kevin McHale said. "We have to play with pace. We have to move the ball. The ball can't get sticky. It's got to go from side to side. And guys just got to make plays."

James Harden continued to do most of the damage, scoring 25 points despite sitting the entire fourth quarter with the rest of the Rockets starters.

Harden, selected as an All-Star for the first time recently, has averaged 27.2 points in his last five games.

When he wasn't driving the lane, the Rockets were pouring in 3-pointers.

They hit 16 of 34 on the night to tie their season high for shots made beyond the arc.

But it was their pace that floored the Jazz, outscoring Utah 26-2 on the break.

"That's how we play," Harden said. "If you watch Rockets basketball, you know we get out in transition and we get some stops. We just try to do a good job of that for 48 minutes."

The Rockets held Utah to 39.5 percent shooting, and the Jazz made just 5 of 18 3-pointers.

Carlos Delfino and Marcus Morris each hit four 3-pointers alone for Houston and Omer Asik tied a career high with 19 rebounds.

Every Rockets player scored, including six in double figures, with Morris adding 16 and Delfino 14.

"It was just fun because everyone was getting involved," said Chandler Parsons, who added 12 points. "And it was right from the tip. We wanted to emphasize transition defense and taking care of the ball. We did those two things beautifully tonight and played unselfish. Everyone was just having fun out there and it's a lot more fun to play that way."

Houston led by 21 points in the second, by 35 in the third and kept pouring it on in the fourth.

The Rockets closed the third with three straight 3s - two by Morris and one by Harden - then saw Morris drain another 3 to open the fourth.

By then the fans were already booing and heading for the exits.

"We should have been booing ourselves," said Jefferson, who had 10 points on 5-of-13 shooting.

Randy Foye led Utah with 12 points.

Utah trailed by 50 points before a driving layup by Alec Burks and 3-pointer by rookie Kevin Murphy in the final 20 seconds.

Utah's previous most-lopsided loss at home was by 33 points to Milwaukee on Nov. 18, 1980. It was the fifth worst overall for the franchise.

"I don't think this ruins us," said Gordon Hayward, who did not play because of a sprained shoulder.

Still, the Jazz hardly looked like the team that had won nine of their previous 12.

They had been undefeated at home in January - 6-0 - with their last loss in Salt Lake City coming Dec. 28 against the Los Angeles Clippers in which they blew a 21-point lead.

Unlike the Jazz, the Rockets weren't about to blow this one.

"I think this is something we definitely needed," said guard Jeremy Lin, who took only five shots Monday but made all five to finish with 12 points.

It was a special trip for Lin, who arrived in Salt Lake City early enough Sunday night to slip in for the last screening of the documentary "Linsanity" during the Sundance Film Festival.

The movie premiered about a year after Lin began catapulting to worldwide stardom in New York. He was an afterthought only a month before, cut by the Rockets on Christmas Day and claimed by the Knicks off waivers.

If his rise to fame was crazy, so was Monday's game.

"It's a testament to how the ball moved tonight and how everyone was looking for everybody. When you have a team play like that, play so unselfishly, it's a beautiful thing to watch," Lin said.

NOTES: Eighty-nine-year-old Wataru Misaka, the first player of Asian descent to play in the NBA, was at Monday's game to watch Lin warm up. Misaka, once discriminated against because of his Japanese ancestry, recalled writing Lin a note of encouragement "when he was with Oakland back in the dark days when things didn't look too good for him. He didn't have all these fans at this time but he's made a lot of progress since then and I think he's in a much better place now." Misaka, who lives in nearby Bountiful, is a former point guard who played for the New York Knicks in the 1947-48 season and led the University of Utah to the 1944 NCAA championship. "He broke a lot of barriers and racial stereotypes," Lin told the Houston Chronicle of Misaka. "You have to pay respect to the people who came before you." Lin is the first American-born NBA player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent.

THE FACTS: Suddenly, the Houston Rockets are red-hot again.

The Rockets continued to bounce back from an earlier slump, blasting the Utah Jazz 125-80 on Monday night. It was Houston's fourth victory in five games since it suffered through a seven-game losing streak.

For the Jazz, it was their worst home defeat in franchise history. It was also the first time Utah lost by more than 40 points since Feb. 4, 2000. The Los Angeles Lakers beat them in that game, 113-67. The Jazz had a six-game home winning streak snapped.

James Harden led Houston with 25 points and Omer Asik tied a career-high with 19 rebounds. Marcus Morris came off the bench to score 16 points, and Carlos Delfino scored all of his 14 points in the first half.

There were few, if any, bright spots for Utah, which was lethargic to start the game and couldn't keep pace with the Rockets. Randy Foye was the Jazz's top scorer with 12 points.

QUOTABLE: "We moved the ball. We shared the ball. We played great defense and ran. Pretty much everything we wanted to do coming into the game, we were able to do so it was a great win for us."

THE STAT: Houston played at a different and more advanced speed than Utah. The Rockets racked up 26 fast-break points compared to just two for the Jazz. Houston did most of its damage on the break in the first half, scoring 20 fast-break points after getting stops and easily getting past a Utah team stuck in neutral.

TURNING POINT: The Rockets began running the Jazz out of their own arena early in the second quarter. They went on a 17-4 run, and it started with three straight 3-pointers by Delfino. Houston got one of its baskets when Delfino tracked down a loose ball following a jump ball between 6-foot-3 Lin and 6-foot-10 Al Jefferson, and drove in for layup. Harden capped the run with back-to-baskets, giving the Rockets a 45-28 lead while bringing out the boo-birds from the home crowd for the first of several times.

HOT: Harden played like the All-Star that he is. He started slowly, missing three of his first four shots, but was 7-for-11 the rest of the way. He made Utah's defenders look extremely slow, got to the basket and got whatever shot he wanted. Lin didn't miss a shot, going 5-for-5 while recording 12 points and seven assists. Chandler Parsons had an efficient 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting while contributing three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Patrick Patterson also helped get Houston off to a fast start as he shot 6-for-9 and scored 12 points. Houston tied a season-high with 16 3-pointers. Utah's best player was probably rookie Kevin Murphy, who played the entire fourth quarter and scored a career-high nine points on 4-for-6 shooting.

NOT: Paul Millsap had his least productive game of the season. He missed his first five field-goal attempts, shot 2-for-9 and finished with four points and two rebounds. Jefferson was unproductive, shooting 5-for-14 while scoring 10 points. The Jazz shot just 27.8 percent from 3-point range and scored its lowest point total of the season.

QUOTABLE II: "It's one loss. You've got to understand why you lost the game. How did we play? We didn't have a lot of energy, we didn't execute, we didn't get stops and we didn't get back. Pick your poison. We didn't do anything on the defensive end, we didn't do anything on the offensive end."

GOOD MOVE: Houston coach Kevin McHale said his team is one that has to play with pace and space prior to Monday's game. The Rockets did just that, playing to their strengths against the Jazz. They pushed tempo and got easy fast-break points. They moved the ball side to side and didn't let it get sticky. Defensively, with Lin leading the way, they clogged the paint and dared Utah to beat them with outside shots. The Jazz obviously failed miserably.

BAD MOVE: Utah's offense was a mess in the first half. The Jazz were content to stand around and shoot long, contested jumpers. They did little to challenge Houston's bigs in the paint, and it resulted in shooting just 35.7 percent in the first half and 39.5 percent in the game. Their offense was basically the complete opposite of Houston's -- in both style and production.

NOTABLE: The Jazz were without key reserve Gordon Hayward, who is recovering from a right shoulder sprain suffered against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. The fourth quarter of Monday's game resembled an exhibition as only reserves played in the final period. Houston briefly led by 50 after James Anderson hit a 3-pointer with 27.6 seconds left. The Jazz, however, scored the game's final five points to avoid more embarrassment.
