As superstars for their respective Los Angeles teams, Kobe Bryant and Blake Griffin were very complimentary of each other during All-Star weekend. It's safe to say the feelings may not be the same between Griffin and Bryant's Lakers teammate, Lamar Odom.

The Staples Center co-tenants had a feisty confrontation in their most recent meeting last month, and the Clippers will have an entirely different backcourt Friday night after trading Baron Davis.

Bryant and Griffin were the headliners during All-Star weekend in Los Angeles. Griffin won the slam dunk contest and Bryant earned his fourth All-Star game MVP award while also praising his younger counterpart.

"I love Blake, man," Bryant said. "This summer, I got a chance to get to know him a little bit because we were doing therapy at the same place, so we were sitting next to each other most of the time and got a chance to kind of talk, when nobody is around."

Odom probably feels differently. Odom, Griffin, Davis and Ron Artest were all ejected near the end of the Clippers' 99-92 victory Jan. 16.

With 5.7 seconds left, Griffin slammed aggressively into Odom's back while seeking position for a possible rebound. Odom grabbed Griffin's jersey and verbally expressed his displeasure.

"Maybe I overreacted, but I just feel like if you're up 9, a ram in the back at that point?" Odom said after the game. "Any other time, I get it. You play hard, you're strong, whatever, but the ram in the back (while) up 9? I don't get it, so I'm just going to have to react."

Griffin ducked his head and tried to walk away from the confrontation. That's when Davis shoved Odom firmly in the chest, leading to both teams circling under the hoop.

"There's never a situation where I'm not going to go to the glass," Griffin said. "I would think of all people, (Odom) would know that."

The Clippers got 30 points from Eric Gordon and 14 from Davis in that game, but neither will play Friday. Gordon remains out with a sprained right wrist while Davis and a 2011 first-round draft pick were traded to Cleveland on Thursday for guard Mo Williams and forward Jamario Moon.

"Mo Williams is a 28-year-old All-Star whose skill set not only complements our frontcourt players but is an excellent running mate with Eric Gordon on both ends of the floor," vice president of basketball operations Neil Olshey said. "Jamario is an elite athlete that can play multiple positions and will help us improve defensively."

It's not clear if Williams and Moon will be available Friday for the Clippers, who have not played at Staples Center since Feb. 2 and are coming off back-to-back losses to Oklahoma City and New Orleans. They have consecutive games against the NBA finalists this weekend, hosting Boston on Saturday.

The Lakers have captured both games since the All-Star break, winning 106-101 in overtime at Portland on Wednesday. Bryant scored 37 points to help his team rally from 10 down with 5:49 left in the fourth quarter.

"This was truly a playoff type of test, because of the crowd and things weren't going our way," Bryant said.

The Clippers have won three of the last five meetings with the Lakers, who will be the home team Friday. The Lakers have won the last six home matchups.

Lakers rout Clippers with Kobe's 18-point quarter

LOS ANGELES (AP) Kobe Bryant retreated to the locker room late in the second quarter, pain radiating through his right arm after he banged his funny bone.

He came roaring back after halftime with a shooting performance that turned the Los Angeles Lakers' cross-hallway rivalry game into a laugher.

Bryant scored 18 of his 24 points in the third, Pau Gasol added 22 points, and the Lakers won their third game in four days out of the All-Star break, beating the weary Los Angeles Clippers 108-95 Friday night.

The All-Star game MVP outscored the Clippers all by himself in the third, hitting two 3-pointers among his eight baskets while also racking up three assists. Just as he did last Sunday against the NBA's best, Bryant thoroughly took over for the Lakers, who seem to be right back on track after losing three straight before the All-Star weekend.

"I've had it before," Bryant said, recalling a similar injury last year in Sacramento. "I've been playing basketball since I was 2. I can shoot the ball different ways. I don't have to shoot it like I normally shoot it."

Bryant got hurt while defending Randy Foye shortly before halftime, getting called for a phantom foul that infuriated him nearly as much as the injury. Bryant said he couldn't extend his elbow fully, but the Clippers sure couldn't tell.

"I thought we did a poor job of getting in his way and making it a little tougher," Blake Griffin said. "A lot of shots he had were contested, but he hit them. You have to give him credit."

Andrew Bynum had 16 points and 11 rebounds in another breezy win for the Lakers, who had lost three straight before co-hosting the All-Star weekend with the Clippers. Bryant and Gasol took the fourth quarter off, getting plenty of rest for Sunday's road showdown with revamped Oklahoma City.

"Kobe kind of faked them out with that dead-arm thing, and he scored a lot of points," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said with a grin. "(At halftime) we talked about who wants this game more. Seems like sometimes when we play our crosstown rivals, they're more energized for the game than we are, and I thought that happened in the first half."

Foye scored 24 points while hitting five 3-pointers for the Clippers, who finally finished an 11-game road trip with nine losses. Griffin had 22 points and 10 rebounds as the Clippers wrapped up the longest road trip for any NBA team this season - a trip that's thought to be the second-longest in league history.

"Any time we play those guys, even if it's our home game, it feels like an away game," said Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, who had eight rebounds and blocked three shots. "You're in L.A. This is the Lakers. Everybody is a Laker fan here."

Griffin had another high-energy game in the same arena where he jumped over a car last weekend, but he couldn't stop the two-time defending NBA champions from leaping past them in the second half.

Clippers rookie Eric Bledsoe struggled in place of traded point guard Baron Davis, managing just eight points on 2-for-11 shooting and eight assists. Center Chris Kaman had 10 points and nine rebounds in his fourth game back from a 2 1/2-month absence with a sprained left ankle.

After spending most of the month away while the Grammys and the All-Stars occupied Staples Center, the Clippers will play their first home game since Feb. 2 on Saturday night - but it's against the Boston Celtics, giving them back-to-back games against both defending conference champions to cap a stretch of four games in five days after the break.

"It always helps to be back home," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. "It's still a road game with their crowd and things, but we're looking forward to tomorrow night. We actually have a home game, but no easy ones. The schedule hasn't been in our favor, with everything we've had to deal with."

What's more, new Clippers Mo Williams and Jamario Moon were in the building, but they can't play until Davis takes his physical in Cleveland to complete Los Angeles' trade with the Cavaliers.

"We've got a lot of new guys and a big trade that just went down," Foye said. "We haven't had our whole team together the whole year. I think it's about three games. When our whole team is out there, people can really judge us."

NOTES: Lakers F Matt Barnes will make the trip to Oklahoma City, but Jackson doesn't think he'll play. He has been out for six weeks after tearing cartilage in his knee. ... Clippers G Eric Gordon said he hopes to play next week, but isn't certain of an exact return date. The 24.1-points-per-game scorer has been out since Jan. 25 with a sprained right wrist and a small broken bone in the same joint. ... Fans near courtside included Steve Carell, Heather Locklear, Dr. Drew Pinsky and director Adam McKay.

Lakers-Clippers notebook

THE FACTS: Blake Griffin may have owned Staples Center with his All-Star leap six days ago, but after Friday's in-house tussle, the Lakers proved it's still their house.

Behind a third-quarter explosion by Kobe Bryant, who was fighting pain in his right elbow, and stout defense, the Lakers pounded the Clippers, 108-95, to go up in the season series, 2-1.

Lakers (41-19) have now won three straight as they head to the Oklahoma City Sunday to face the Thunder, who have added big-man Kendrick Perkins, for a rematch of the first round of last year's playoffs. In the win, the Lakers were led by Bryant, who had 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting, and Andrew Bynum, who chipped in with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The short-handed Clippers (21-38), who traded away Baron Davis to the Cavaliers Thursday and are still without Eric Gordon, could have used the help of newly-acquired Mo Williams and Jamario Moon, both of whom are still waiting to have their physicals cleared in time for Saturday's home game against the Celtics. In the loss, which was the Clippers third straight and 10th in their last 12, Randy Foye tied a season-high 24 points and Griffin added 22 points and 10 rebounds.

The Clippers trailed 52-50 at halftime, but were outscored 56-45 in the second half. For the game, the Clippers shot 37.8 percent to the Lakers' 50.6 percent. The Lakers largest lead of the game was by 26, 100-74, in the fourth quarter. The Lakers recorded just seven turnovers to the Clippers' 11.

QUOTABLE: "It hurts like a mother--------. Very sore. Very sore. I've had problems with it before, so when I hit it, my whole arm went numb. I had a hard time bending it."
-- Bryant, who wore a padded purple sleeve on his arm in the second half after getting hit on the right elbow in the second quarter, on his injury. The Lakers are calling it an ulnar nerve contusion injury (funny bone).

THE STAT: 18-17 -- The third quarter score in which Bryant had 18 and the entire Clippers squad had 17.

TURNING POINT: Bryant caught fire in the middle of the third quarter as the Lakers rattled off a 16-5 run to go up 76-62 at the 3:47 mark. Bryant connected on 5-for-7 during the Lakers' run, including two 3-pointers. Bryant finished with 18 in the period on 8-for-11 shooting. He missed out on his 20th point after his dunk on the breakaway wasn't in time as the third quarter buzzer sounded.

QUOTABLE II: "Kobe took (the game) over. He made some tough shots and got us back on our heels and they got some momentum."

HOT: Pau Gasol finished with 22 points on 8-for-9 shooting. At one point in the game, he was 6-for-6 from the field before missing a 17-foot baseline jumper at the 3:56 mark of the second quarter. He was also 6-for-6 from the line. Earlier this year against the Warriors, Gasol scored 28 points on 10-for-10 shooting and 8-for-8 from the free throw line. At the time, Gasol was only one of three players who had accomplished a perfect line of at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists without missing on at least five shots from the field and the line.

NOT: The Lakers did a solid job on Griffin, relegating him to just a jump shooter. Griffin, who is second in the league in dunks, had only two. He shot 7-for-18 from the field.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Foye tied a season-high 24 points. The Clippers took a first quarter 31-30 lead behind Foye's 14 points on 4-for-5 shooting from three. Foye has been on an offensive surge of late. In the last 30 days, Foye has scored 20 or more points seven times.

NOTABLE: Williams and Moon were introduced to the media Friday just a day after the Clippers traded Davis and a 2011 unprotected first-round pick to the Cavaliers for Williams and Moon. "It was definitely a shock," said Williams of the trade. "We left an organization that we did some great things. We won a lot of games together. Obviously, we went through a period, the post-LeBron [James] era. They're in a rebuilding mode now. [Cavaliers General Manager] Chris Grant ? I give him a lot of respect ? he came to me and said to me that's the reason why we're making this move because we're in a rebuilding mode, and I feel that you deserve to go somewhere where you can be happy and excel with a young team, an up-and-coming team like the Clippers. I feel real good about the situation here...obviously this is the first time in my career that I've played in good climate. I've always played in cold-weather places. My wife was like, 'that's why I stuck it out with you.' I appreciate the Clippers for keeping my marriage together." Del Negro weighed in on his new players. "I think it'll be a nice fit," he said. "I'm excited about the guys we added, but I'm more excited about let's see how this will all come together." Del Negro mentioned Williams' ability to shoot with range and his All-Star experience.

Similar to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Lakers coach Phil Jackson raised an eyebrow when New Orleans, a team owned by the NBA, took on additional salary with a recent trade involving a swap for the Kings' Carl Landry and New Orleans' Marcus Thornton. "I was most surprised by New Orleans' trade," Jackson said. "I want to know who is making that trade and how they can take on that salary when everybody else is in the league. This is the owners who have to take on this extra salary...those are things that seem to me manipulations I'm not quite comfortable with...How is this happening? Where is the consensus? If New Orleans happens to win a championship does everyone get a trophy at the end?"

As for other trades, Jackson opined on the Celtics and Thunder trade. "They're different, we'll see if their better," said Jackson of the Thunder gaining center Kendrick Perkins and losing forward Jeff Green and center Nenad Krstic to the Celtics. "Their speed is going to change. They're going to be more of a bang-em-sock-em kind of team. They will have guys who can set picks...that will help them out and it will give them a defensive player in the middle." Jackson said he was surprised by the trade because Celtics coach Doc Rivers has been "touting that his starting group had never lost a playoffs. That even was being mentioned this year...but obviously they made a tactical change on how they are going to approach this season. Maybe it's seeing Miami and wanting more speed. Jeff Green is a talented player, probably not being used to his capabilities at times in Oklahoma City. He could blossom there."
