The Golden State Warriors have received a nice boost off the bench in their last two games. The Indiana Pacers are looking for any kind of lift as they continue a western trip.

The Warriors try to win a season high-tying third in a row Wednesday night when they face a Pacers team coming off one of its worst defensive effort of the season.

Averaging a Western Conference-worst 24.0 points off the bench, Golden State (17-23) hopes for another big effort from its substitutes as it continues a five-game homestand and a stretch of 13 of 14 at Oracle Arena.

Led by Reggie Williams, the Warriors' reserves have accounted for more than 25 points in back-to-back games for the first time since late November. They shot 52.6 percent from the field in those victories, including 8 of 15 on 3-point attempts.

After Williams scored 16 points and Vladimir Radmanovic added 13 off the bench in Friday's 122-112 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, Williams had 12 and fellow backup Acie Law added eight - one off his season high - in a 109-100 victory over New Jersey on Monday.

"We expect that night in and night out from (Williams)," said starter Stephen Curry, who has played six fewer minutes than his teammate over the last two games due to foul trouble and defensive matchups.

"He made some big shots. In the fourth quarter, he always comes out and makes a big shot for us, especially when we really need it."

Giving the ball to Monta Ellis is also a good option. Averaging a career-high 25.7 points, Ellis is scoring 31.3 per game on 52.9 percent shooting in the last three contests.

He had 45 points, then a career high, in the most recent matchup with the Pacers as the Warriors won 126-107 on Nov. 30, 2009. It was Indiana's third straight loss in Oakland.

The Pacers (16-22) return to the Bay Area following a 114-107 loss to the Clippers on Monday. Indiana, among the best in the league in field goal percentage defense (43.7), surrendered a season-high 54.3 percent against the Clippers. Los Angeles rookie forward Blake Griffin scored 47 points, the most by an NBA player this season.

"We couldn't guard him," coach Jim O'Brien said after the Pacers' opener of a four-game road trip.

It might be tough for O'Brien's team to slow down the Warriors, who are shooting 50.8 percent and averaging 113.7 points in their last three contests. They've averaged 123.0 points in Indiana's last two visits to Oracle Arena.

Golden State has had its own problems trying to handle Pacers point guard Darren Collison. Then with New Orleans, Collison had 16 points with a career-high 20 assists in a March 8 matchup before scoring 20 points with 14 assists in a victory in Oakland nine days later.

Collins had a season-high 30 points with eight assists Monday and Danny Granger scored 32, but the rest of the Pacers shot a combined 15 of 41.

Granger had 22 points in Oakland last season after averaging 38.0 in the previous three matchups with the Warriors.

Warriors beat Pacers on Ellis' jumper

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) Monta Ellis is having an All-Star season. Whether he plays in the midseason game is irrelevant to him.

Ellis made a jumper with less than a second remaining to give the Golden State Warriors a 110-108 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

"I wanted that one," he said. "I was concentrating on knocking it down, too. Coach (Keith Smart) drew the play up and he said he wanted it to be the last shot, so that's what I did ... took the last shot."

Ellis scored 36 points for the Warriors, who matched a season high with their third straight victory. David Lee and Dorell Wright each added 21 points as Golden State beat the Pacers at home for the fifth straight time.

"He is letting his game speak for itself," Smart said of Ellis. "Having talked to a lot of coaches, they have noticed how well he is playing. Our All-Star made a play, made two big plays."

Ellis would rather not discuss his All-Star aspirations.

"I don't know; who knows," Ellis said. "I'm going to let the coaches decide what they decide. If they decide not to put me in, we still have the goal to make the playoffs (and) I'm looking forward to that."

Danny Granger had 32 points and 13 rebounds for the Pacers, who lost their third straight overall and their 11th in the last 12 road games. Tyler Hansbrough added 16 points and Jeff Foster matched his season high with 15 rebounds.

Stephen Curry added 11 points and seven assists for the Warriors. Darren Collison and Mike Dunleavy each had 14 for the Pacers.

"We lost the game because we turned the ball over," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien said. "We can't give up 27 points on turnovers if we want to win. Monta hit a great shot, but we lost because of the turnovers and that's the bottom line."

Indiana led 105-103 when Ellis, who was 16 of 28 from the field, took a charge with 2:28 left and hit a short jumper 23 seconds later to tie the game.

"If he's not an All-Star, there's something wrong with the process," Lee said. "He's doing a great job."

The Pacers turned the ball over again on their next possession, allowing the Warriors to take a one-point lead when Lee hit one of two free throws.

Another turnover led to Curry's running bank shot and a three-point lead. Collison tied it when he converted a three-point play with 18 seconds left.

"This is probably one of the toughest ones of the season," Collison said. "We were on the road and had the lead. We let it slip away by not making smart decisions. Monta Ellis did his thing. It's tough to guard him."

After a Warriors timeout, Ellis took the ensuing inbounds pass from Brandan Wright and held the ball against Brandon Rush at the top of the key for 12 seconds. He made a move to his right and pulled up for the game-winning jumper over the 6-6 Rush.

"He hits big shots when time is running down," Curry said. "You could tell how confident he was from the time he got the ball until the time he released it."

Hansbrough scored 12 points in the first quarter as the Pacers took the early advantage.

The Pacers used a 17-2 run that bridged the first and second quarters to take an 11-point lead. They eventually settled for a 58-53 advantage at halftime.

Acie Law hit a jumper from just inside the halfcourt stripe to end the third quarter, bringing the Warriors within 83-81 heading into the final quarter.

Notes: Pacers C Roy Hibbert was given the night off with an upper respiratory infection. He was limited to a season-low 12 minutes against the Clippers on Monday. ... Dunleavy recorded three assists in the first half to reach 1,500. ... The Warriors did not record a second-chance point in the first half, grabbing just two offensive rebounds. ... Warriors F Lou Amundson sustained a mild left ankle sprain in the third quarter and did not return. ... Ellis has scored more than 30 points in four of his last six games and 12 times overall. ... Granger is two field goals shy of 2,500.

THE FACTS: Monta Ellis added another plank to his All-Star campaign platform, scoring 36 points -- including an ankle-breaking, game-winning jumper with 0.6 seconds remaining -- to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, 110-108. Ellis added six assists and five rebounds for the Warriors, who got 21 points each from Dorell Wright and David Lee. Danny Granger finished with 32 points, 13 boards and six assists for the Pacers, but also committed seven turnovers -- including a huge one in the final minute -- for the Pacers.

TURNING POINT: Warriors coach Keith Smart said he had "no reservations" about putting the ball in Ellis' hands with the score tied at 108 and 18.1 seconds remaining. Ellis held the ball out top with Brandon Rush guarding him, made a break to his right with 7 seconds left, then crossed over to his left -- leaving Rush floundering in his wake -- and pulled up for a 16-foot fadeaway that splashed in.

QUOTABLE: "If you're looking at the All-Star break, and saying, We're going to showcase the guys that are playing the best basketball at this particular time of the year.' . . . He's one of the guys that's playing very, very good basketball right now. He's done that all year."

THE STAT: 34. The Warriors, who have regressed in terms of transition scoring without former coach Don Nelson whipping the tempo to a frenzy, scored a season-high 34 fast-break points against the Pacers. Many of those were generated off of Indiana's 20 turnovers.

HOT: Ellis went off for 16 points in the second quarter alone, shooting 7-for-9 from the field (2-for-2 beyond the 3-point arc) and scoring the team's final 10 points of the first half to keep them within hailing distance heading into intermission.

GOOD MOVE: With Granger and former Warrior Mike Dunleavy (14 points, five rebounds, four assists) killing Golden State as small-ball power forwards, Smart unearthed Brandan Wright, who had played a grand total of 32 minutes over the previous two months. Coming on with 28 seconds left in the third quarter, Wright made a huge impact in the final period, scoring six points on 3-for-3 shooting and grabbing four rebounds.

QUOTABLE II: "Brandan Wright came in there and gave us just what we needed at that juncture of the game. . . . Granger and Dunleavy can pop off somewhere against a traditional (power forward) and make 3s. I knew I had to find one guy that could play big and go rebound, but yet be able to get out and cover or switch in some coverages. The one guy I found, searching down the Rolodex, was Brandan Wright." -- Smart

BAD MOVE: Although Jeff Foster tied his season-high with 15 points as the center in Indiana's small-ball attack, he was a liability down the stretch for the Pacers. First he committed a pass-and-crash offensive foul -- cannily drawn by Ellis -- with 2:28 left. Then he was whistled for climbing Lee's back with 1:18 remaining, giving the Warriors two foul shots. Finally, he failed to keep Lee off the offensive glass on Golden State's next-to-last offensive possession, allowing Lee to nab the ball and feed Stephen Curry, who reset the offense and scored at the 21.8-second mark.

NOTABLE: Indiana did without starting center Roy Hibbert, who missed the game due to flu-like symptoms. Josh McRoberts -- who earned just four minutes over six games since ceding the starting power forward role to Tyler Hansbrough -- returned to the lineup and had seven points and two rebounds in 18 minutes. . . . The Warriors didn't get a single point from their bench until Acie Law made a free throw with 28.3 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Golden State finished with 13 points total from its reserves -- seven from Law, six by Brandan Wright. . . . The Pacers followed one O'Brien directive to the letter: Indiana's game plan was to attack the Warriors with penetration, and they got to the line 29 times, making 25 free throws. . . . Wright tied his career-best with four steals, and tied a season-high with two blocks.
