The Boston Celtics will see a different Toronto Raptors squad than it did just five days ago.

They hope the result will be different, too.

Boston hosts Toronto on Friday night looking to end the new-look Raptors' four-game winning streak and avenge its last defeat in the process.

The Celtics, however, may have to do it without Rajon Rondo, who sat out his third straight game Wednesday with a strained hamstring. Depth behind the star point guard took a hit as well when Delonte West broke his right wrist in the 89-83 win against New Jersey.

"It's going to be a long time. Let's put it that way," coach Doc Rivers said of West's injury.

If Rondo can't go, Nate Robinson and Marquis Daniels are expected to share the point guard duties.

With Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen struggling to find their scoring touch, the Celtics (11-4) leaned on 38-year-old Shaquille O'Neal to provide the spark against the Nets.

O'Neal scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, going 9 for 10 from the field. It was his first 25-point game since scoring 26 on March 18, 2009, while playing for Phoenix - a stretch of 76 games. He's averaging 13.3 points and 7.4 rebounds over his last seven games.

"I know people appreciate my hard work," O'Neal said. "This is a great team. Best team I've been on. We've got a lot, a lot of weapons. Anybody on this team can be the leading scorer."

Garnett tied a season low with eight points and Allen was held under 20 for the sixth consecutive game, which hasn't happened since Dec. 3-18 when he failed to reach that mark in seven straight.

"I told him he looked like the 2000 Shaq," Garnett said. "He definitely was the target tonight. We rode him."

O'Neal scored only eight points against the Raptors in a 102-101 loss Sunday in Toronto. Amir Johnson hit two free throws with 2.7 seconds left and Andrea Bargnani scored 29 points for the Raptors before Pierce's last-second shot rimmed out.

The win snapped an eight-game losing streak against Boston, and the Raptors are looking to beat the Celtics in two straight for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Jerryd Bayless and Peja Stojakovic made their team debuts Wednesday as the Raptors (6-9) won their fourth straight, 106-90 against Philadelphia. Bayless scored 13 points in nearly 15 minutes, and Stojakovic scored seven in just over 6 minutes. They were acquired from New Orleans on Saturday.

"It's great just being able to play," Bayless told the Raptors' official website. "I'm taking good shots, that's the thing. Just being able to run this team and to be able to get other people going is something that I love to do."

Reggie Evans had a career-high 22 rebounds and a season-best 12 points.

"I was just doing what I normally do, that was the main thing," Evans said. "I really don't want to focus on the career high. I just do what my team wants me to do."

His team is playing its best basketball of the season after a 1-7 start. However, Boston has won 12 of the last 14 meetings in the series.

Garnett, Shaq dominate Celtics' win over Raptors

BOSTON(AP) The old guys just didn't forget.

Kevin Garnett had 26 points and 11 rebounds, Shaquille O'Neal added 16 points and nine boards, and the Boston Celtics avenged a loss to Toronto by beating the Raptors 110-101 on Friday night.

Still smarting after losing to Toronto five days ago, Boston pounded the ball inside to its aging, but very effective stars.

"Kevin's energy tonight was off the charts, and you knew it would be, if you know Kevin, because the last time we played them the guy in his position had a pretty good game," Boston coach Doc Rivers said. "That's just Kevin Garnett."

It was the Celtics' third straight win after they lost consecutive games for the only time this season, the second coming at Toronto when Boston squandered a lead in the closing seconds of a 102-101 defeat on Sunday.

Amir Johnson had 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench in Toronto's win. On Friday, he was held to 11 points with six boards.

"Yeah, (Kevin and I) have this conversation all the time. The young guys can talk," O'Neal said. "He was actually talking that he was a player."

Glen "Big Baby" Davis had 10 of his 18 points in the final quarter for Boston. Paul Pierce finished with 18 points, Ray Allen 17 and Rajon Rondo collected 14 assists in his first game after missing three straight with a strained left hamstring.

Most of Rondo's dazzling passes led to layups and dunks. Boston outscored the Raptors 64-44 in the paint.

"We watched the tape and understand what our advantage is, and that's what we did," Pierce said. "We knew we could attack the inside. We were able to go inside against these guys."

Linas Kleiza led Toronto's balanced scoring with 18 points. The Raptors, which had won four straight, had six players in double figures. Jose Calderon had 14 assists and 12 points.

Rondo paid immediate dividends, getting eight assists in the opening quarter.

Raptors forward Reggie Evans was helped to the Toronto bench midway through the third quarter. Coach Jay Triano said after the game that Evans broke his right foot.

Triano agreed that the Raptors' youth was taught a lesson by Boston's elder players.

"It's part of the learning experience," he said. "It was a tough learning experience for them."

The Celtics had opened a 21-point edge early in the final quarter, but Toronto closed it to 99-93 on Kleiza's basket with 5:20 to play. Davis then hit a shot for Boston and Garnett tipped in his own miss, pushing the Celtics back up by nine with 4 1/2 minutes left.

"We tried, but we put ourselves in a bad position throughout the game," Toronto's Peja Stojakovic said. "It was a big point differential, especially against a team like Boston."

Pierce's 3-pointer made it 105-95 with just under three minutes to play. The Celtics were never threatened the rest of the way.

Boston led 58-52 at halftime and opened its big lead in the third quarter. The Celtics had assists on all but one of their 22 baskets in the first half.

The Celtics, who shot 59 percent in the quarter, outscored Toronto 28-15, holding the Raptors to 15.8 percent from the floor (3 of 19).

After Calderon nailed a jumper for Toronto to start the third-quarter scoring, Boston had the next 11 points, with Garnett's jam off Rondo's alley-oop pass the highlight. Garnett also had a dunk in the spree.

The teams traded baskets before Boston took control by scoring 14 of the next 17 points. The Celtics led 86-67 entering the final 12 minutes, but the Raptors made their charge.

NOTES: Celtics G Nate Robinson was whistled for a Flagrant 1 foul on Kleiza in the second quarter. ... Rivers didn't mind playing the Raptors again so quickly. In fact, he'd like to see teams play consecutive nights. "I thought it made the second game more competitive," he said before the game. "I loved that fact. I wish we'd do it more often." ... Stojakovic played his second game with Toronto after being acquired from New Orleans on November 20. He had 13 points in 5-of-7 shooting. ... Rondo got a big ovation when he came out of the locker room late for pregame warmups. ... The Celtics wore their third jerseys that are dark green. ... Patriots WR Deion Branch was seated courtside.

THE FACTS: Kevin Garnett led five Celtics in double figures with 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as they defeated the Toronto Raptors 110-101. Boston avenged an earlier loss to Toronto this past Sunday, aided by the return of Rajon Rondo, who posted 14 assists in his return to the starting lineup. Raptors forward Linas Kleiza led Toronto with 18 points off the bench.

QUOTABLE: "Kevin's energy tonight was off the charts. You knew it would be if you know Kevin after the loss last Sunday. He was just athletic tonight. He's been that way all year."

THE STAT: With Rondo playing his first game since last Friday, the Celtics got back to their unselfish ways as a team, dishing out assists on 22 of their first 23 made baskets of the game. Boston finished with 33 assists on the night, tying a season- high.

TURNING POINT: Despite squandering much of their 14-point lead in the first half, Boston returned to the floor after halftime with authority, outscoring Toronto 11-2 in the opening 2:22 of the third quarter. The strong effort out of the locker room enabled the Celtics to rebuild their double-digit advantage. Toronto did not get closer than six points the rest of the way.

QUOTABLE II: "If you get a group of guys that are willing to make the extra pass, it is absolutely contagious. Even if you have a selfish guy, if they see it, they will catch the bug. Our guys have really bought into it."

HOT: Ray Allen came roaring out of gate from the opening tip, hitting all three of his 3-point attempts in the game's first four minutes, helping Boston stretch their lead to 19-5 in the first quarter.

NOT: Raptors starting shooting guard Sonny Weems struggled mightily against Boston's aggressive defense, missing all nine of his field goal attempts.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Shaquille O'Neal continued in his offensive dominance in the paint, feasting on a smaller Toronto front line by hitting all five of his field goals. O'Neal scored 16 points on the night with nine rebounds. The veteran is shooting 71.9 percent from the field in the month of November.

INSIDE THE ARENA: Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch sat courtside for the game with his family.

GOOD MOVE: Toronto head coach Jay Triano gave major minutes to his new-look bench for large stretches of the second and fourth quarters. The trust paid off as the reserves clawed their team back into the game in both frames, fighting back from double-digit deficits each time. The Raptor bench outscored the starters 63-38 overall.

ROOKIE WATCH: Turkish backup center Semih Erden bounced back from a trio of subpar performances with an efficient night on the offensive end. Erden hit all four of his field goals, including two thunderous dunks in 11 minutes of action.

NOTABLE: Rondo dished out eight assists in the first quarter. The point guard also showed some rust in his return, finishing with eight turnovers. ... Toronto piled up eight offensive rebounds in the opening frame and 17 overall for the game. They outrebounded Boston 44-35 on the night. ... Raptors forward Reggie Evans suffered a broken right foot in the third quarter. He is expected to miss several weeks. ... Glen Davis scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half. ... Stojakovic scored 13 points in just 15 minutes, all in the second half. ... The Celtics outscored the Raptors 64-44 in the paint.
