The Utah Jazz have been hit or miss on the offensive side of the ball early this season, but should feel good about the Los Angeles Clippers coming to town.

The Jazz will look for their 15th consecutive home victory against the Clippers on Saturday night.

Utah has gone 40-1 at home against the Clippers since the start of the 1989-90 season, outscoring them by an average of nearly 14 points per game.

Deron Williams was efficient from the floor, but struggled to take care of the ball in Friday night's 85-78 loss to Golden State.

Williams scored a season-high 23 points on 9-of-18 from the field. He also had just his fifth career game with at least eight turnovers.

Utah coach Jerry Sloan said turnovers were an issue the entire game.

"We just didn't seem to have the energy to compete with them," he said. "When you give up 21 turnovers for 27 points, that's almost a goodbye kiss."

Williams should bounce back against the Clippers. He has put up double digits in assists in three straight contests, and is averaging 10.6 over his last eight games against them.

Al Jefferson had 16 points and a season-high 15 rebounds Friday for his second double-double this season. While with Boston and Minnesota, Jefferson recorded eight double-doubles in 13 career-starts versus Los Angeles.

The Jazz (2-3) averaged 104.2 points in 2009-10 - fourth-best in the league - but have struggled to score consistently so far, averaging 86.7 points in their losses compared to 122.5 in the wins.

However, they shouldn't have to worry about offense against the Clippers. Utah has scored more than 100 points in 14 of its previous 17 games against Los Angeles, taking 13 of them.

The Clippers are hoping to avoid starting 0-3 on the road for the first time since 2006-07 after falling to Denver 111-104 on Friday night.

Los Angeles (1-5) led by one at halftime but was outscored 29-17 in the third quarter and trailed for the remainder of the game.

Blake Griffin scored a career-high 26 points on 11-of-18 from the floor and grabbed 10 rebounds. Coach Vinny Del Negro knows his team needs to come out with a better effort on defense to be competitive.

"We can't give up 111 points and think we are going to beat a lot of teams," he said. "We have to do a better job defending and controlling the tempo a little better."

Eric Gordon finished with 21 points - the third straight game in which he's topped 20. A 37.1-percent shooter from 3-point range, Gordon is 10 of 21 from beyond the arc in his career, and averaging 19.5 points in four career starts against the Jazz.

Two-time All Star Baron Davis, who was third on Clippers last season with 15.3 points per game, missed his third straight contest with a sore left knee and his status for Saturday remains unknown.

The Clippers last defeated the Jazz in Utah 96-89 on Jan. 22, 2003.

Jazz rally from 18 down, beat Clippers in 2 OTs

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) The Utah Jazz needed a big comeback and 10 extra minutes to extend their home dominance of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Deron Williams made the tiebreaking layup with 6.8 seconds remaining in the second overtime and the Jazz rallied for a 109-07 victory Saturday night, the Clippers' 15th consecutive loss in Salt Lake City.

The Jazz erased an 18-point, first-half deficit and escaped after Los Angeles' Craig Smith missed a shot in the lane at the buzzer.

"It was a tough game," said Williams, who scored 22 of his 30 points after halftime. "(They) took it to us early and we had to fight our battle all day."

Paul Millsap had 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Al Jefferson finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz.

Los Angeles' Eric Gordon, who scored 27 points, tied the game in the final seconds of regulation with a slam dunk, but missed a runner in the lane that would have won it at the end of the first overtime.

"Our guys were fighting all game," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. "From that standpoint, we grew. But it still hurts to lose and we had a good opportunity tonight that we weren't able to capitalize on."

Chris Kaman scored 23 points despite playing most of the game with foul trouble for the Clippers, who fell to 1-6 and haven't won in Salt Lake City since Jan. 22, 2003.

Utah trailed by 17 in the first quarter and by as many as 18 in the second quarter, but opened the second half with a 17-3 run, sparked by 3-pointers from Raja Bell and Andrei Kirilenko.

"It was an ugly win," Jefferson said. "They owned the first half. We came out in the second half with a lot of energy and fought back."

Utah's zone defense gave the Clippers fits in the second half, especially Blake Griffin. The rookie scored 16 points and made five of his first six shots, but went 0 for 4 in the second half before fouling out.

Gordon was held scoreless in the second overtime, but Rasual Butler hit two 3-pointers to erase a six-point deficit and set the stage for Williams' heroics.

"Great players make great plays," Jazz guard C.J. Miles said. "He recognized the clock in that situation that there were no timeouts left."

Williams scored 15 points in the third quarter and gave Utah its first lead of the game, 77-75, on a layup with 9:42 left in the fourth quarter. He missed a jumper from the top of the key at the end of regulation.

Notes: The Clippers played without point guard Baron Davis (sore left knee) and Randy Foye (left hamstring). Utah has won eight of the past nine meetings in the series. Gordon has four double-doubles in seven games this season. Utah is 6-2 all-time in double-overtime games.

THE FACTS: The Utah Jazz overcame a 16-point halftime deficit and outlasted the Los Angeles Clippers in double overtime in a 109-107 victory on Saturday night. Deron Williams, who scored the game-winning layup with 6.8 seconds left in the second overtime, led the way for the Jazz with a season-high 30 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson each had double-doubles. Millsap had 25 points and 13 rebounds and Jefferson had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

THE STAT: 15. It's almost a foregone conclusion that the Jazz will beat the Clippers in Salt Lake City. Saturday's victory was Utah's 15th straight home win over Los Angeles.

TURNING POINT: The game had several momentum changes and wasn't decided until the final seconds. After Rasual Butler tied the game at 107-107 with a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left, Williams drove coast-to-coast and made a layup to give the Jazz their winning margin. The Clippers' Craig Smith had a chance to send the game into triple overtime, but missed a layup as time expired.

QUOTABLE II: "That's the awareness that he has. He knows what he's doing. To be able to do that, it looks real easy, but it takes a special player to be able to do that."

HOT: The Clippers made nine of their first 10 shots to jump out to a 20-8 lead, shot 61.9 percent in the first quarter and led by as many as 18 points in the first half. The Jazz, however, got back in the game by shooting 61.1 percent and outscoring the Clippers 31-18 in the third quarter.

NOT: Jazz forward C.J. Miles had a miserable shooting night. In the first half, he was 0-for-7 in 12 minutes of play. He threw up an airball with 12 seconds left in regulation with Utah up by two points, giving Los Angeles a chance to send the game to overtime. He finished the night 1-for-13 from the field. The Clippers' Ryan Gomes was nearly as off, making just 2 of 13 shots.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Clippers guard Eric Gordon scored more than 20 points in his fourth straight game. He tied his season-high of 27 points and may have had more if he didn't have to sit out the last 1:24 with an injured shoulder. Clippers center Chris Kaman broke out of a shooting slump, scoring a season-high 23 points on 9-for-16 shooting. He made eight of his first nine shots.

GOOD MOVE: Williams had two of them. Not taking a timeout before making the game-winning layup caught the Clippers off guard. He also took charge of the game after halftime, scoring 11 points in the third quarter.

ROOKIE WATCH: Clippers forward Blake Griffin continued the outstanding start to his pro career. He had 16 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. He did most of the damage before halftime as he had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the first half. He fouled out with 2:28 left in regulation.

NOTABLE: The Jazz have won 41 of their last 42 home games against the Clippers. Utah is 12-6 all-time in double-overtime games and 6-2 at home.
