Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy isn't planning on resting any players down the stretch.

His Magic look to sweep the season from the New York Knicks for the first time in eight years Friday night in a matchup of the league's leading rebounders, Dwight Howard and David Lee.

Orlando (55-23) is locked in as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference behind Cleveland, which hosts the Magic on Sunday. While Cavaliers coach Mike Brown has said that he will rest his players, Van Gundy has said he won't unless they're injured because the Magic, who use a deep bench, don't have anybody in the top 40 in minutes.

"They have home-court wrapped up all the way through the playoffs, so he's right," Van Gundy said. "It's a nice situation to be in. I've never been there."

In addition, Orlando can still gain home-court advantage for a possible NBA finals rematch with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Magic need help since the Lakers own the tiebreaker.

"That's really looking ahead, but that's really all we have to play for right now," forward Matt Barnes said. "Every game is still important."

Every Orlando player played less than 30 minutes in a 121-94 victory over Washington on Wednesday. Howard had 17 points and 10 rebounds, but the story of the game was Orlando's 65 bench points.

"It definitely helps," Van Gundy said. "If you go down our 12-man roster, every one of those guys has played major roles in multiple wins. It's not like one game or something."

Howard leads the league with 13.2 rebounds per game with Lee second at 11.9. Having a top rebounder, though, is about all these teams have in common.

New York (28-50) has lost 50 games for the third straight season after falling 113-105 at Indiana on Wednesday. The Knicks allowed 72 points in the first half and seemed to blame the loss on having played the night before in a 104-101 home win over Boston.

"I thought we were dead from the start with the game last night," coach Mike D'Antoni said. "We didn't have the necessary energy to start the game off."

Lee had plenty of energy with 16 points and 16 boards for his fifth straight double-double. He's second in the Eastern Conference with 52 double-doubles behind Howard's NBA-leading 60.

Orlando is 2-0 against New York and trying to sweep the series for the first time since going 4-0 in 2001-02. Howard averaged 21.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in the first two meetings as the Magic shot 52.8 percent.

Lee has been limited to 14.5 points and 9.0 boards per game against Orlando.

Magic continue to gear up for playoffs, shut down Knicks

ORLANDO (NBA.com exclusive) -- There will be no rest for the weary, not if the weary are the Orlando Magic.

The Magic set a franchise record for 3-point field goal attempts in a season in Friday night's 118-103 victory over the New York Knicks, and everybody played, even though the Magic are locked into the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs with three games left in the regular season.

Dwight Howard and Vince Carter scored 25 points each, and Ryan Anderson turned back a Knicks comeback with 11 points in the fourth quarter.

The Magic (56-23) will keep the pedal to the medal as long as as it is mathematically possible for them to pull ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers, just in case they meet again in the NBA Finals.

Nobody will get any games off.

"I don't know what it gains you, quite honestly," said coach Stan Van Gundy. "These guys have been playing all year, and they get days off; they had a day off yesterday.

"I don't understand why it has to be the game, and I don't understand why everybody thinks that one day off is just going to have them rejuvenated or anything else."

Some of the league's stars are not playing in games in the final week, but Orlando's players will keep playing.

"Now, if things were decided one way or another on us and the Lakers, that might be a different story," Van Gundy said. "I think in the last 14 years, the team with home court [advantage] in the Finals has won 12 of them. So if we ever were to get there -- and that's a long way to go -- but I'd hate to be sitting there in the Finals going: 'We would have had a shot at this if I didn't rest so-and-so for no reason on April 9.'''

The Lakers beat the Magic, four games to one, in last year's NBA Finals, which started in Los Angeles.

"That makes a huge difference, more so in the 2-3-2 series," Van Gundy continued. "There has been five teams in the last 10 years that have won conference finals without the home-court advantage, but in the 2-3-2, for whatever reason, home court has held up a lot more.

"Look, that's our goal. I'm not saying we'll get there, but if we do, I want every advantage and I think that's a lot more important than giving a guy a night off."

Carter, a 12-year veteran who has yet to go deep into the playoffs, says he doesn't need any games off.

"This is really the first time I've worried about home-court advantage," he said. "If we win all the games, everything will fall into place."

Both the Magic and the Knicks (28-51) came out firing, combining for 65 3-points shots and converting 31.

Danilo Gallinari scored a game-high 28 points for New York, hitting 5-of-10 3-pointers and all nine of his free throws.

Gallinari's shooting helped the Knicks cut the margin to eight early in the fourth quarter, but Anderson and J.J. Redick took over. It was the Magic's 25th victory of the season by 15 points or more.

"They do have a big guy [Howard] inside that makes it kind of rough. They just outmanned us. They're just better," said Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni.

"When Vince Carter is hitting 3s like that, it makes it tough because we are doubling trying to rotate off of shooters to double Howard, and it makes it difficult when they are hitting shots like that.," said Knicks forward David Lee.

The Magic shot 56 percent overall and made 15-of-32 from long range, giving them 2,158 attempts for the season. With three games left, they are 126 short of the league record set by the Knicks last season.

They need 28 more successful 3-pointers in their last three games to tie the NBA record of 837, set by the Phoenix Suns in 2005-06.
