Derrick Rose didn't let a bruised hip keep him from helping the Chicago Bulls dominate the New York Knicks in the teams' first game after the All-Star break.

The Bulls hope for more of the same from their All-Star guard as they try to complete a home-and-home sweep of the struggling Knicks on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Still sore from a hard foul by Orlando's Dwight Howard last Wednesday and coming off 15 minutes of play in his first All-Star game Sunday, Rose scored 29 points in Chicago's 118-85 home rout of New York on Tuesday.

The reigning NBA rookie of the year says he'll likely have to deal with lingering effects of the injury for a bit longer, but is confident it won't hinder his play during a stretch of four games in five days.

"A bruise is going to heal each day, so it's nothing that I should worry about,'' said Rose, who's averaging 19.8 points and 5.7 assists while playing all 52 games this season. "Tomorrow, it should feel even better than today.''

Rose showed little signs of being injured, making 14 of 18 shots, including his first nine. The Bulls (26-26) shot a season-high 60.5 percent while winning for the third time in four games.

"When he's hitting that jump shot, he's especially tough to handle," New York forward David Lee said of Rose, who's averaged 24.3 points on 57.9 percent shooting in three games against the Knicks this season. "He's so strong. When he starts going to the basket, he's so good finishing. He's one of the best finishers as far as guards are concerned in the league."

Rose scored 26 in the Bulls' 88-81 loss at New York on Dec. 22. Joakim Noah had 10 with 21 rebounds in that contest, but could miss his sixth straight game with plantar fasciitis in his left foot as the Bulls begin a two-game road trip that concludes Friday at Minnesota.

"We'll see if we're going to take him on the trip," Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said. "If not, we'll keep him here and get some therapy and we'll re-evaluate him on Saturday when we get back."

Though the Knicks (19-33) have won two in a row and four of five at home over Chicago, they've lost four straight and 13 of 17 overall. New York shot 34.6 percent, was blocked nine times and outrebounded 49-38 in Tuesday's defeat.

"They just overwhelmed us physically,'' New York coach Mike D'Antoni said.

While Chicago looks to remain in playoff position in the Eastern Conference, New York may be focused on trying to salvage something in the final two months of another disappointing season. Both teams could have a different look after Thursday's trade deadline.

Coming off his first All-Star appearance, Lee had 24 points with 12 rebounds Tuesday for the Knicks, who've given up an average of 110.9 points while losing nine of their last 11.

Lee is averaging 23.8 points with 11.0 boards in his last five games. He has totaled 42 points and 33 rebounds in his last two contests against the Bulls.

Bulls complete home-and-home sweep of Knicks

NEW YORK (NBA.com exclusive) -- On a night when both teams were without key players, the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls played a basketball game amidst a swirling storm of trades, rumors and speculation.

Playing without guard John Salmons and forward Joakim Noah, the Bulls beat the Knicks for the second time in two nights 115-109 after outscoring New York 62-45 in the second half at Madison Square Garden.

One night after pouring in 29 points in a 118-85 Bulls' rout in Chicago, Derrick Rose scored 27 points and Brad Miller tallied 19 of his 21 in the second half. Luol Deng added 23 points and Taj Gibson put up 14 points and a career-best 16 rebounds for the Bulls.

Chicago rallied from a 14-point third-quarter deficit to move above .500 at 27-26 and hand the Knicks their fifth straight loss. The Bulls outrebounded the Knicks 52-40.

While Noah remains out with a left foot injury, Salmons remained back at the team hotel amid reports that he had been dealt to Milwaukee.

"It's crazy," Salmons told The Chicago Tribune by phone. "They told me to stay at the team hotel and I'll know in the morning where I'm going."

"It's never easy, you know, especially when you're dealing with very good people with high character, but it's part of the business and guys understand that," Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said.

"You just hope when these things come about, it works out for both sides and both parties are happy. Doesn't always work that way, the way the economy is now and things going on in the league. We can only control what we can and what's best for the organization."

Al Harrington scored 27 points, and Wilson Chandler had 26 for the Knicks. David Lee had 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Knicks forward Danilo Gallinari, who wore a sleeve on his right arm, missed two potential game-tying 3-pointers in the final seconds.

Gallinari has been bothered by a sore right forearm but said that wasn't the cause of his shooting woes.

"It bothers me, but it doesn't affect my game," he said.

After Gallinari's second miss, the Knicks gathered an offensive rebound but Lee's attempted pass to Harrington was picked off by Rose.

Miller was fouled and made a free throw to make it 113-109 with 6.4 seconds left, effectively icing the game.

Deng hit two foul shots to ice the game for the Bulls with .8 seconds left.

"We came out more aggressive," Rose said of the turnaround. "In the first half, we weren't contesting their shots how we were supposed to, like yesterday, and they were getting wide-open looks. In the second half, we were contesting their shots, rebounding the ball and playing our regular uptempo-type game."

The Knicks were without Nate Robinson, who head coach Mike D'Antoni was home with "flulike symptoms."

The Knicks have reportedly agreed to send Robinson to Boston for Eddie House and his $2.8 million expiring contract. House played for Knicks coach D'Antoni in Phoenix.

"I'm not gonna go into any trades until they're done because I've done this too long and it can be over in a minute," Knicks president Donnie Walsh said. "So in any of the trades I'm in, that's the way I feel about it."

Starting forward Jared Jeffries also played only 6 minutes before he left in the first quarter with what the Knicks said was a sore right knee. D'Antoni said X-rays were negative.

Jeffries has been mentioned in a potential trade with Houston for Tracy McGrady, but Walsh declined comment on specifics of any of his uncompleted deals, saying all the reports of a deal with the Rockets were a "one-way pipeline" coming out of Houston.

"I'm hopeful," he said, referring to a potential deal that could happen before Thursday's deadline.

The Knicks on Wednesday dealt 7-foot center Darko Milicic to Minnesota for Brian Cardinal and his expiring contract worth $6.8 million.

Walsh indicated he made the Milicic trade to facilitate other potential deals he is considering.

Walsh wouldn't say if he planned to keep Cardinal, saying, "I think that'll be clearer if things work out" Thursday.

New York led by two after three quarters, but Jannero Pargo opened the fourth with a 3-pointer that gave Chicago the lead for good and kicked off a 9-0 run that made it 91-84 on a follow dunk by Tyrus Thomas with 9:12 remaining.

The Knicks cut it to three on Lee's jumper with 49 seconds to play and had chances to tie on their next possession, but Gallinari missed a pair of 3-pointers. New York got the rebound again after a scramble but Rose stole a pass.

The first quarter was more competitive than Tuesday's game was. There were 12 lead changes in the period, with Toney Douglas tossing in an off-balance 3-pointer as time expired to give New York a 27-25 lead.

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said the Knicks showed energy and if "they keep that attitude, then we'll get better as a team and we'll put some wins on."

Douglas made another 3-pointer to extend the lead to 11 with 8:46 left in the second, and the lead grew to 15 late in the half before the Knicks took a 64-53 lead into the break.

The Bulls turned it around in the third quarter behind 13 points from Miller a surge from Rose. He scored six during a 12-2 spurt that trimmed a 12-point deficit to 80-78 on Kirk Hinrich's layup, and the Knicks' lead was only 84-82 after three.

NOTES: Kentucky coach John Calipari, who coached Rose's Memphis team that reached the 2008 NCAA title game, was at the game. ... Chicago won three of four meetings and hasn't lost the season series against the Knicks since 2000-01... Walsh also said the NBA had given him cap relief on the retired Cuttino Mobley, who earns $9.5 million this year. "I don't think I'd trade him," Walsh said.
