The Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks both felt the sting of last-second losses Saturday night.

They'll try to bounce back Monday night when the Bucks try to end their nine-game losing streak at Conseco Fieldhouse in the first of four meetings this season between the Central Division rivals.

Both teams had chances Saturday to salvage a split of a Friday-Saturday back-to-back. Indiana (9-16) lost 107-94 at Memphis on Friday before falling 100-99 at San Antonio the next night.

T.J. Ford missed a jumper at the buzzer Saturday for the Pacers after Roy Hibbert allowed Tim Duncan to dunk over him for the winning basket with 4.6 seconds left.

"You're going to make some and you're going to miss some," said Ford, who played his first two seasons with Milwaukee. "The coaches and my teammates have the belief that I can get that shot off. I got it up, I had the opportunity but it just fell short."

Milwaukee (11-14) has lost three straight after enduring frustration in its back-to-back set of games. The Bucks fell 85-82 at Cleveland on Friday before a 96-95 home loss to Sacramento the next night.

Ersan Ilyasova's basket with 5 seconds left put the Bucks up by one before they allowed Kings rookie Tyreke Evans' layup with 0.9 seconds remaining. Andrew Bogut missed a pair of free throws with 42 seconds left for Milwaukee.

"Obviously, you need those to go down," coach Scott Skiles said. "But I would not feel a whole lot different had we won the game. If we make a basket in the end and win that game I don't go home and break out the pom poms and start cheering."

The home team won all four meetings last season, and Milwaukee hasn't won at Indiana since Dec. 7, 2004. Ford averaged 22.0 points in the two wins for Indiana in 2008-09.

The former Bucks point guard will get his first chance to face the player Milwaukee is currently trying to build around in rookie Brandon Jennings. Jennings leads all first-year players with a 20.3-scoring average, although he's shooting 34.4 percent over his last 14 games - 11 losses for the Bucks.

There's a direct correlation to his poor shooting and Milwaukee's current slide. Jennings shot 47.9 percent and averaged 25.3 points during the Bucks' 8-3 start.

Indiana has lost four of seven while playing without leading scorer Danny Granger, who is sidelined with a foot injury.

Without Granger, the Pacers are looking for others to step up. Hibbert played well Saturday as he matched his career high with 20 points and added a career-best six blocks.

"Roy played solid basketball tonight with six blocked shots and he did a really nice job in the low post for us," coach Jim O'Brien said.

While Jennings appears to be a success for Milwaukee, Indiana's top draft pick Tyler Hansbrough has turned in mixed results. The 6-foot-9 Hansbrough, who helped lead North Carolina to the 2009 NCAA title, is averaging 9.0 points on 37.2 percent from the field while reaching double figures in rebounds once.

Bogut, Bucks endure another close game, fight off Pacers

INDIANAPOLIS (NBA.com exclusive) -- Scott Skiles had been waiting for the Milwaukee Bucks to learn how to win a close game. On Monday, they played a team struggling to do the same.

And although the Bucks didn't do everything ideally needed to finish in a tight spot, the Indiana Pacers missed two late 3-pointers to allow the Bucks an 84-81 victory in front of 12,836 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

"It was a pretty good win," Skiles said. "It'd be nice to put the nail in by making some free throws, but we got a road win. We're glad to have it."

The Bucks (12-14) had lost three consecutive games by a total of five points, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers last Wednesday on Kobe Bryant's buzzer-beating shot, then falling just short of a come-from-behind victory against Cleveland.

Milwaukee then lost on a final-second drive by Sacramento rookie Tyreke Evans Saturday.

"We're kind of getting accustomed to being in this situation," Bucks forward Michael Redd said. "Tonight, we showed maturity and found a way to get the job done. We've had a lot of close games this season. Hopefully, we made a turn tonight in terms of winning the close ones."

The Bucks, who had lost seven consecutive road games, won because the Pacers (9-17) -- after winning three of four games last week -- struggled, shooting 31-of-87 (35.6 percent) and losing a third consecutive game as they continue to search for a consistent starting lineup. The Pacers also squandered a nine-point second half lead.

"We had the game under control there for a while and then we let it slip away," Pacers center Roy Hibbert said.

They won because center Andrew Bogut was dominant at times, finishing with 18 rebounds and scoring a career-high 31 points. Bogut shot 6-of-7 in a 12-point first quarter.

"He got off to such a great start," Skiles said. "One of the ways they took some of the momentum was when I took Andrew out of the game in the first half. I left him out there in the second half and he played very well."

Said Hibbert, "My hat goes off to him. He's a very good ballplayer."

They won because they made a few more clutch shots -- and made a few more clutch plays -- at the end of what at times was a sloppy game.

But mostly, at the end, they won because the Pacers couldn't take advantage of two opportunities.

With Redd missing two free throws with 19.2 seconds remaining, the Pacers worked for a shot, but after denying Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy, the Bucks' defense forced the ball to Pacers point guard T.J. Ford. His attempt bounced from the front of the rim and was rebounded by Bogut, who missed two more free throws with 4.9 seconds remaining.

Ford, now 1-of-28 from 3-point range this season, then missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

"We had a guy shooting the three that we wanted," Bogut said.

The Bucks, after squandering a first-quarter lead in the second quarter, regained control of the game's momentum with a big third quarter.

With Indiana leading 43-36 at halftime, Milwaukee scored 16 of the game's next 20 points to take a 52-47 lead and never trailed again. Charlie Bell, who didn't play in the first half, scored six points during the run for Milwaukee.

"I thought he changed the game," Skiles said of Bell. "The momentum swung when he came in. He had a couple of looks and knocked them down. He had a lot of defensive energy. We were having trouble at that spot, and he was ready."

Murphy, after an 11-point, 10-rebound first half, finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Indiana, while Hibbert scored 16 points. Rookie forward Tyler Hansbrough scored 11 points.

Dunleavy, who had shot 47 percent in 12 games since returning from a knee injury, shot 2-of-17 for the Pacers, and forward Dahntay Jones finished 2-of-8 for seven points.

"We didn't play well or execute in the third quarter and we let it get away," Murphy said. "We lost this one but we can not dwell on it because Boston is waiting [in Boston Tuesday]. This game must be put behind us and we must move into the next one."
