Finally healthy, the Los Angeles Clippers are playing some of their best basketball of the season.

The visiting Clippers look to match a season high with a third consecutive victory Friday night, as they try to defeat the New York Knicks for the fifth straight time.

Eric Gordon scored 25 points, Rasual Butler added 21 off the bench and Chris Kaman had 23 with 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles (11-13) opened a six-game road trip with a 120-95 win over Minnesota on Wednesday.

Marcus Camby had 10 points with 18 rebounds and Baron Davis added 13 and 13 assists as the Clippers posted season highs in points and assists (30) en route to their seventh win in 11 games following a 4-9 start.

The team's improved play is partially because the 7-foot Kaman (19.1 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game) and point guard Davis (16.0 ppg, 7.5 assists per game) are healthy at the same time.

Injuries limited Kaman and Davis to 28 games together in 2008-09, including 14 in the final five months. The pair has already played 24 games together this season.

"It's kind of like a quarterback and a wide receiver,'' Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "I don't know how long it takes guys to get chemistry, but Baron and Kaman are starting to develop a chemistry to where they play."

With also Camby healthy after missing 20 games last season, and Gordon averaging 18.4 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds despite missing nine games due to a sore groin, the Clippers are eight wins shy of their total from all of 2008-09.

"All around, we've been playing better,'' said Kaman, averaging 19.4 points and 10.2 rebounds in his last five games. "Guys are getting more comfortable playing with each other and it's been good so far.''

The Clippers are limiting opponents to 93.3 points in their last 10 games.

Los Angeles' offense has made the difference against New York. The Clippers are averaging 113.8 points during their four-game winning streak in this series.

Al Thornton had 21 points and Gordon added 19 in the Clippers' 140-135 overtime victory at Madison Square Garden on March 25. Gordon scored 30 points and Davis had 20 assists in a 128-124 home win over the Knicks on Feb. 11.

The Knicks (8-17) won four in a row earlier this month, but are now looking to avoid a third straight loss after falling 98-89 at Chicago on Thursday.

Al Harrington scored 16 of his 18 points in the first period, but New York couldn't hold an early 17-point lead. New York shot a season-low 36.0 percent and finished 16 of 47 from 3-point range, setting an NBA season high for 3-point tries and falling two shy of the all-time record.

"That's our game,'' said guard Chris Duhon, who also scored 18 points and is averaging 19.3 in his last three contests. "We're not going to go away from it. We're going to keep shooting it. If we're open, we shoot it.''

Harrington, averaging 19.7 points, had 38 in the March loss to the Clippers.

The Knicks are expected to be without guard Larry Hughes (12.3 ppg) for a second straight game because of a strained left groin.

Bender the feel-good story in Knicks comeback win

NEW YORK (NBA.com exclusive) -- Jonathan Bender hadn't played an NBA game in four years.

But in his return from exile, the 7-foot former lottery pick was instrumental in helping the Knicks overcome a 20-point first half deficit to beat the Clippers, 95-91, before 19,763 at Madison Square Garden. It was their largest comeback win of the season and the fifth time they overcame a double-digit deficit in victory this season.

Bender hit two clutch foul shots to give the Knicks their first lead of the game at 76-74 and David Lee scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half, including a critical tip-in to put the Knicks ahead for good, as New York (9-17) stopped a two-game losing skid.

"It feels good," said Bender, who finished with 9 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block and 1 flagrant foul in his first game since Nov. 5, 2005. "I was real excited. I had a lot of adrenaline going out. I just wanted to get out there and do good, definitely make my first shot. After I got that off my back, I felt pretty good from there."

The Knicks outscored the Clippers (11-14) 53-33 after trailing 58-42 at the half.

Lee scored 13 points in the third period as the Knicks outscored the Clippers 30-14, tying the game at 72 on a driving lay-in by Lee in the final seconds of the period.

But his most important play came with 36.2 seconds remaining and the Clippers ahead 91-90 thanks to a Baron Davis 3-pointer.

Al Harrington took a 9-foot jumper from the right wing that bounced off the iron. Lee was set up perfectly under the basket and volleyed the loose ball first with his right hand toward the basket. After the ball came back down, Lee's left arm extended above the fray and he knocked the ball into the hoop for a 92-91 Knicks lead.

"I was just trying to follow [Harrington's] shot," Lee said. "Both bigs [Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby] went and tried to block the shot and I just tried to follow it. And [I] got some resistance on the first tip and then I was able to just tap it to myself and put it back up and in. I was actually surprised the ball went in, to be honest with you. I was kind of backwards when I tipped it, but I just tried to make a hustle play at the end and a lot of times those are the plays that win games."

Added Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni: "He did a little bit of everything. He really had a super, super second half for sure."

Al Thornton was then whistled for an offensive foul after Danilo Gallinari (14 points) positioned himself in front and drew the charge.

Chris Duhon made 1-of-2 foul shots with 13.7 seconds left to push the Knicks lead to 93-91.

Rasual Butler missed a 3-pointer in the waning seconds and the Clippers then fouled Chris Duhon with .9 seconds left.

Duhon made both to cement a stunning 95-91 comeback.

Duhon finished with an impressive line that read 17 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds over 37 minutes. That was his second double-double of the season and his second double-digit assist total of the season.

Still, the feel-good story of the game was Bender.

Bender, 28, was the No. 5 pick of the 1999 NBA Draft, but retired from the NBA in 2006 because of chronic knee pain.

He said during the first year of his retirement he thought he'd never play in the league again.

"That pain was some unbearable stuff," he said before the game. "[I thought] 'If I can't get rid of that, there's no way I'm going to try really.'"

Knicks president Donnie Walsh traded for Bender while in Indiana and gave him a shot to try out with New York this past summer.

Bender initially balked, feeling he wasn't completely healthy, but he called Walsh a couple of weeks ago to say he was ready to go.

He checked in with 2:39 left in the first quarter and the Knicks trailing 26-8.

He proceeded to drive on Camby for a layup and then drain a 3-pointer, scoring five straight points. He also was whistled for a flagrant foul 1 that led to two Eric Gordon foul shots.

"I think you can see and hope what he can bring us," D'Antoni said of Bender. "He's a very athletic, long 7-footer that can spread the floor and can run. And he's been there. He's played on some good teams and had some big moments."

The Knicks hope there are many more big moments to come.
