The Clippers had a chance to tie, but Corey Maggette missed a layup with three seconds remaining and Memphis ran out the clock.

"I feel bad losing the game, the ball toying with me going in and out," Maggette said. "That's how the game is, either you make 'em or you miss 'em. All I can try to do next time is try to make it."

Stromile Swift led Memphis with 24 points, scoring 20 in the first half. Pau Gasol added 18 and James Posey 17 in the Grizzlies' first road win since December 3 at New Jersey. They also ended a five-game road losing streak against the Clippers.

"Because we're so young, we never even talk about streaks," Grizzlies coach Hubie Brown said. "All we talk about is the next game. For us, we needed this."

"We're trying hard to get a win on the road, especially in the West," Gasol added. "We've got to fight and get some more wins on the road if we want to get somewhere."

Marko Jaric led Los Angeles with a season-high 23 points and Maggette finished with 21 in his first game since serving a two-game suspension for fighting. Elton Brand added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the opener of the Clippers' three-game homestand.

"I like that we didn't give up in the game," Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said. "We were down by 10 points in the second half and the guys really played hard in the fourth quarter and did the things that we needed to do so we would have the opportunity for overtime."

"It's disappointing when you lose like that, especially when you're playing against a team with (basically) the same record," Jaric said. "We played well down the stretch."

The Clippers closed with a 12-2 run in the final 2:15 of regulation to forge a 100-100 tie. Jaric had the final two baskets during the spurt and Gasol missed a driving layup at the buzzer.

Los Angeles guard Quentin Richardson sat out the second half with a sprained ligament in his right hand after 15 scoreless minutes and is listed as day-to-day. Bobby Simmons received much of the playing time in his absence and scored 16 points.

"I think overall we played a good game," Simmons said. "We turned up the defense and forced them to throw the ball away."

The Grizzlies should have been playing the fourth game of a five-game road trip but were playing just their second due weather problems in the Pacific Northwest. The win moved them back to .500 (18-18) for the first time since December 27.

Jaric's three-pointer 30 seconds into overtime put the Clippers ahead, 103-100. Maggette made two free throws with 1:13 remaining to give Los Angeles its final lead, 107-106.

"When we got to the overtime, we got everybody together and realized we still wanted to win the game, " Gasol said. "Chris Kaman was left open in the paint on Los Angeles' final play, but Jaric apparently did not see him and gave the ball to Maggette instead."

Memphis shot 53 percent (42-of-79) and outscored Los Angeles in the paint, 60-48. The Grizzlies had not won a road game against the Clippers since November 2, 2000.
