DALLAS, March 2 (Ticker) -- Alonzo Mourning broke out in the third quarter and helped the Miami Heat return to their winning ways against the Dallas Mavericks.

Eddie Jones had 26 points and Mourning scored 11 of his 23 in the third quarter as the Heat emphatically ended a three-game losing streak against the Mavericks with a 109-95 victory.

Mourning contributed nine points during Miami's 20-3 run to start the third quarter. Rod Strickland capped the outburst by converting a layup with 6:25 to go in the period, giving the Heat a 75-51 cushion.

Miami had won 16 straight games against the Mavericks before a 95-91 loss on February 1, 2001. Dallas posted a 96-86 triumph at Miami last March 7 for its first sweep of the season series since 1989-90.

Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki contributed 21 points before being ejected with 6:18 left after picking up his second technical foul. Mavericks coach Don Nelson followed his player to the locker room, picking up a double technical for kicking the basketball and arguing.
