- Very long (7'2") and athletic
- Has ability to play both forward positions
- Strong defender with length and quick feet.
- Excels in transition, good finisher
- More of a slasher but can hit the 15-footer
- Does the little things well. Runs the floor, moves well without the ball
- Lacks strength to guard NBA 4's
- Needs more consistency and range on his shot
- Probably doesn't have the physique to add much weight
- Needs to improve his ball-handling
He has the ability to be a high-energy player off the bench relatively soon. He can come in and play good defense, run the floor and make the most of his athleticism. Look for his name to be selected in the early-to-mid 2nd round.
Jean-Charles averaged 9.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg playing for France in the European U20 Championships last summer. He then played his second season for ASVEL in the top French league and didn't get much time, scoring in double-figures only once. Things changed after he was named the Most Outstanding Player at the Nike Hoop Summit with a 27-point, 13-rebound effort. His play in the game and in the practices leading up to the game resulted in his declaring for the NBA Draft.
3.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 0.4 apg, 14.1 mpg, .589 2PT, .385 3PT, .588 FT
His 27-point, 13-rebound effort in 27 minutes in the Nike Hoop Summit was by far the highlight of his season.
Reminds me of...
Andei Kirilenko, if he can get stronger and add some weight.
What Insiders Say
Luka Bassin, International Coach and Scout, Slovenia
"Livio made great development the last three seasons even though he didn't play at an elite European level and is a long-term NBA project. His MVP awad at the Nike Hoop Summit is putting him in a very good position before the draft. He is a rebounding machine with great physical tools. He developed his body and shooting technique but his biggest difficulty (or an advantage?) is still the question of whether he is a small or power forward. Defesively he could guard small forwards but his offensive game is more of a big men's game."
Giovanni Conte, Basket Caffe
"He came up on the stage during the last Hoop Summit, but has been one of the most intriguing prospects in Europe. He is an evolving player: he’s not ready to play small forward, and he’s too skinny to play power forward, but he has the instincts and the ball handling skills to drive to basket. He has no confidence in his long range shot despite sound mechanics. His body, with an amazing wingspan, make him dangerous on the pass-line and in rebounding. Today it's not easy imagining a role for him on an NBA team, but he can really play, and the margins of improvement seem enormous."
Lorenzo Neri, Draftology
"Raw on the offensive end but incredibly skilled on defense, where he can combine great instincts, athletic body and timing. He's not NBA-ready, but has a lot of upside and he'll be able to play both forward positions in time."
