Sacramento Kings Team Overview

2011-12 record: 22-44

Fifth place, Pacific Division

Did not make the playoffs

DRAFT PICKS:

Round: 1

Round: 2

#36 Orlando Johnson (Traded to Indiana Pacers)

Areas of Strength:
DeMarcus Cousins continues to develop into a candidate for a string of All-Star appearances. He can take the next step with a season devoid, or at least mostly lacking, maturity problems. Former Rookie of the Year winner Tyreke Evans still can be an impact player with a unique game, as long as he can settle into one position and reclaim the potential he showed.

Needs Work:
Pretty much everything else. The Kings score a lot because of the fast pace, but they can't shoot. They don't defend. They only rebound on the offensive end. Jimmer Fredette, the 2011 lottery pick, still has a long learning curve as the hoped-for point guard of the future.

Two Stats That Matter:
6 --
Road wins, in 33 tries.
49 -- Charges taken by Cousins, the most in the league.

The Way To Go:
The glass is half full. Because the Kings have so many needs, they have several options at No. 5. Harrison Barnes would address the need for better shooting and small forward, John Henson for defense. That would be higher than most have Henson going, but he would be a great pairing with center Cousins. Jared Sullinger will be in the mix.
