Trail Blazers Game Versus Detroit Postponed Until Sunday Due to Inclement Weather

PORTLAND, Ore. (January 7, 2017) – The Portland Trail Blazers and the NBA have announced postponement of this weekend’s home game versus the Detroit Pistons from tonight to Sunday at 6 p.m.  Local weather forecasts calling for dangerous levels of ice and snow in Oregon and Southwest Washington led to the postponement decision.  Fans already holding tickets originally issued for tonight can use those tickets for entry at Moda Center on Sunday evening, or exchange them for a comparably valued game in the future.

Saturday’s hockey game between the Portland Winterhawks and Everett Silvertips at Veterans Memorial Coliseum has been postponed to a future date to be announced later by the team.  Information about the new date and ticketing will be available soon at www.winterhawks.com.

“The safety of our fans and players is always the highest priority, and this decision to delay our home game until Sunday was made with that in mind,” said Chris McGowan, President & CEO of the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter.  “Input from the NBA, local government and public safety officials also played a role in our decision to postpone until Sunday.”

Trail Blazers pregame programming on CSN Northwest begins with Rip City Live at 5 p.m., followed by the Toyota Pregame Show at 5:30 p.m.  On the radio, the Trail Blazers Pregame Show tips off at 5 p.m. on flagship Rip City Radio AM-620 and the Trail Blazers Radio Network.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at the Rose Quarter early and plan ahead for limited parking availability. Moda Center doors open at 4:30 p.m. for the Trail Blazers game. Guests should also factor in additional time to clear venue security checkpoints.

The Rose Quarter will feature several food and beverage options for fans upon arrival. Dr. Jack’s opens at 3 p.m., while the Pyramid Taproom will open its doors at 3:30 p.m.

The following are additional suggestions for managing travel to the Rose Quarter:

  • Consider Alternative Transportation – With added capacity on busy event nights, MAX Light Rail and TriMet bus service frequently travel through the Rose Quarter transit center.  For schedules, fares and route information, visit www.trimet.org. Due to large game-night crowds, please allow extra time for your transit choice.
  • Bicycle Access to Rose Quarter – With 30 racks and capacity to secure 300 bicycles, Rose Quarter guests are welcome to ride bicycles to the venue.
  • Pedestrian Foot Traffic – With some of Portland’s most accessible and progressive neighborhoods located nearby, guests are welcome to walk to Rose Quarter events.
  • Parking Garages and Surface Lots – Parking Garages and parking facilities adjacent to the Rose Quarter will be available for a parking charge.  Due to limited spaces, guests are encouraged to consider alternative transportation means or carpool. When choosing any Rose Quarter parking option, guests are reminded to remove or store valuables out of sight, and lock their vehicles.
