Trail Blazers Sign Five Players

PORTLAND, Ore. (October 2, 2023) – The Portland Trail Blazers have re-signed forward Kevin Knox, signed guard Antoine Davis, forward Justin Minaya, center Duop Reath and guard Malachi Smith, it was announced today by General Manager Joe Cronin. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Originally acquired by the Trail Blazers on Feb. 9, 2023, Knox appeared in 21 games (4 starts) with Portland during the 2022-23 season and recorded 8.5 points (44.4% FG, 31.4% 3PT, 74.1% FT), 3.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 17.1 minutes per game. In five seasons, Knox has accrued career averages of 7.5 points (38.5% FG, 34.2% 3PT, 71.3% FT), 2.9 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 18.0 minutes per game in 275 games (66 starts) for four teams; New York (2018-21), Atlanta (2021-22), Detroit (2022-23) and Portland (2022-23).

Davis, 6-foot-1, 165-pounds, accrued career averages of 25.4 points (40.8% FG, 37.5% 3PT, 89.2% FT), 3.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.3 steals, and 37.3 minutes per game in 144 career games (143 starts) in five seasons for Detroit Mercy. Davis enjoyed a decorated career as he was named a 2023 Third team All-American by the USBWA, two-time Horizon League Player of the Year and the NCAA scoring leader for the 2022-23 season. With his jersey retired at Detroit Mercy, Davis finished his career with 3,664 points, second only to Pete Maravich as the most points scored in a college career.

Reath participated in 2023 Las Vegas Summer League with the Portland Trail Blazers where he averaged 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds in five games. In April of 2023, the LSU alum signed with Al Riyadi Beirut of Lebanon and in 10 games, he posted 21.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.5 blocks in 32 minutes per game. Reath was also a member of the 2020 Australian National Team along with fellow Trail Blazers teammate Matisse Thybulle as they earned a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Minaya appeared in four games during the 2022-23 season for the Trail Blazers and averaged 4.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists in 22.3 minutes per game. Prior to joining the Trail Blazers, Minaya played in 27 games (25 starts) for the Mexico City Capitanes of the NBA G League, recording averages of 12.7 points (48.7% FG, 33.9% 3PT), 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.1 steals and 35.1 minutes during the 2022-23 season.

As a senior for Gonzaga, Smith averaged 8.7 points (53.6% FG, 50.0% 3pt, 79.2% FT), 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 20.8 minutes per game in 37 games (1 start) for the Bulldogs. The Illinois native accrued career averages of 12.3 points (48.5% FG, 41.0% 3pt, 81.5% FT), 5.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 26.0 minutes per game in 132 career games (60 starts) for Wright State (2018-19), Chattanooga (2019-22) and Gonzaga (2022-23).
