Trail Blazers present $56,142 check to American Red Cross to help aid victims of Typhoon Haiyan

PORTLAND, Ore. (Nov. 22, 2013) – In a generous display of community support, collaboration and goodwill, the Portland Trail Blazers, Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, make it better Foundation, Safeway Foundation, Moda Health, adidas and Columbia Distributing donated more than $56,000 to the American Red Cross to help aid victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Representatives from the respective entities banded together to present the check to the American Red Cross during the fourth quarter of the Trail Blazers 98-95 victory over the Chicago Bulls Friday night at the Moda Center (photo attached). Fans attending Friday’s game helped raise more than $5,000 through the make it better Foundation’s 5050 Rip City Raffle, presented by the Safeway Foundation. The Trail Blazers organization matched that amount, increasing the donation to $10,000. The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation then matched that number and the $14,571 that the Seattle Seahawks raised during their game against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. That brought the total to $49,142. Additionally, Trail Blazers corporate partners Moda Health, adidas and Columbia Distributing each contributed to the donation efforts, which brought the grand total to $56,142. Those who were unable to contribute at the game can make donations through the American Red Cross website, www.redcross.org.
