All-NBA teams unveiled Thursday; TNT to reveal NBA award finalists on Friday

NEW YORK — The All-NBA Teams and NBA Awards finalists will be revealed this week, the NBA announced today. On Thursday, May 18, the league announced the All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams. Ahead of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on TNT, the finalists for the NBA Awards will be unveiled during a special 90-minute edition of the “NBA Tip-Off presented by Autotrader” pregame show on Friday, May 19 at 7 p.m. ET.

The All-NBA Teams are chosen by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Voters select two guards, two forwards and one center for each team, choosing players at the position they play regularly. Players who receive votes at multiple positions will be slotted at the position where they receive the most votes.

Before Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, TNT’s Emmy Award-winning “Inside the NBA” studio team will announce the three finalists for the following awards: Kia NBA Most Valuable Player, Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Kia NBA Sixth Man Award, Kia NBA Most Improved Player and NBA Coach of the Year. The NBA Awards are also chosen by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

For the eighth consecutive season, the NBA and Kia Motors America gave fans the opportunity to submit votes for the Kia NBA Most Valuable Player Award by ranking their top five choices on NBA.com, Twitter or Google. The fan vote counts as one vote toward determining the winner.

The winners for these awards will be revealed on the same night for the first time during the inaugural NBA Awards on TNT, which will be hosted by Drake on Monday, June 26 (9 p.m. ET) live from Basketball City in New York.
