When he did a nifty spin move from the left side and drove in for a layup with 1:05 left in overtime Friday night, DeMar DeRozan’s fast scoring start to the season became a deeper drive into the history books.
DeRozan, the league’s leading scorer, scored 30 points to lead the Raptors’ 113-111 win at Denver and joined some elite company when it comes to filling up the basket.
Since the 1963-64 season, only five players have scored 30 or more points in 10 of the first 12 games of a season:
DeRozan, 2016-17.
Michael Jordan 1986-87.
Alex English 1985-86.
Tiny Archibald 1972-73.
