2023-24 (OKLAHOMA CITY): Holmgren opened the season with 11 points, four boards, and three assists in his NBA debut win over Chicago. Chet set the Thunder rookie record for blocks in a game with seven in a win over the Cavaliers in Cleveland. Holmgren posted 16 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks, and three made three-pointers, becoming the first rookie in NBA history to reach those numbers or better. Also became the third player since 1973-74 with 15 pts, 10 reb, & 5 blocks in a game within their first two career games. Holmgren posted a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to the Pelicans on 11/1. Holmgren tallied 24 points, eight boards and five assists in a loss to the Warriors on 11/3. BEFORE NBA

Freshman (2021-22): Holmgren was awarded the 2021-22 WCC Defensive Player of the Year, WCC Newcomer of the Year and was named to the 2021-22 All-America Second Team by AP and Sporting News. Was named WCC Freshman of the Week nine times throughout the season and was tabbed a First Team All-WCC selection. Ranked fourth in the nation in blocks (3.66 bpg) and led the WCC in blocks, rebounding and field goal percentage (60.7). Amassed 117 blocks on the season, which tied the Gonzaga and WCC single-season records, both set by Brandon Clarke in 2018-19. His 13 double-doubles ranked 21 in the country. Led Gonzaga (28-4) to a WCC Championship and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, ultimately making its seventh-straight Sweet 16 appearance. Totaled 13 blocks in the NCAA Tournament, which ranks fourth in program history. Grabbed 17 rebounds against Georgia State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, which matched the record for most rebounds in a single tournament game in Gonzaga history. He finished that game with 19 points, five assists, two steals and a program record seven blocks. In addition to his list of awards, he was a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year and a Wooden Award National Finalist.

PERSONAL LIFE

Father, Dave, played collegiately at Minnesota as a 7-foot center. Dave has famously recorded all of Chet’s games with a personal camcorder since he was in the sixth grade.
