Omari Spellman was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He has a younger brother, Arashma Parks, and a younger sister, Taiyier Park. Both have played college basketball: Arashma for Temple University and Taiyier for Michigan State. Spellman bounced around between multiple high schools. As a sophomore at North Royalton High School in North Royalton, Ohio, he averaged 22 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Spellman then attended the MacDuffie School in Granby, Massachusetts, for his junior year before ending up at St. Thomas More in Montville, Connecticut, as a senior. In 2015-16, he averaged 16 points and seven rebounds per game for St. Thomas More. He was selected to play in the 2016 Jordan Brand Classic, during which he posted 12 points and 15 rebounds.
