Player Bio

Torrey Craig was born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1990. He is the son of Johnny Craig and Teresa Mays and has one brother and one sister. The forward is a big Will Smith fan. Craig played his high school ball at Great Falls High School in South Carolina. He earned 1A state Player of the Year honors after his senior season at Great Falls HS. Follow him on Twitter (@TCraig_23) and Instagram (@tcraig3_). It may not be an embellishment to say that Craig put South Carolina Upstate on the college basketball map. Before the 6-foot-6 forward arrived, the Spartans were transitioning from Division II basketball. Over four years with USCU, Craig started 124 games, including 25 as a freshman. The team won just five games in its first season in the Atlantic Sun, but Craig averaged 14.4 points and 7.2 rebounds. He had five double-doubles. The South Carolina native helped the team win 21 games in his sophomore season. Craig provided 16.4 points, and 7.7 rebounds. He was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Year. As a junior, he put up 17.2 points and 6.9 rebounds. The Spartans would make a postseason appearance in the CIT in 2014 after another successful season for Craig. He averaged 16.7 points and 7.0 rebounds. Craig closed his career as fifth-leading rebounder in Atlantic Sun history.
