Brooks was born Jan. 22, 1996 in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He grew up in Canada but played a portion of his high school ball in Henderson, Nevada at Findlay Prep. Other Canadians, including Tristan Thompson, Cory Joseph and Anthony Bennett also played there. Coming out of high school, he was a four-star, top-80 recruit according to ESPN. Brooks majored in general social science in college at Oregon. Follow him on Twitter (@dillonbrooks24). Brooks was named 2016-17 Pac-12 Player of the Year. He also was named to the All-Pac-12 first team in back-to-back seasons, (2015-16 and 2016-17). He led Oregon to the 2017 NCAA Tournament Final Four before falling to North Carolina. The Canadian collected 2017 All-Pac-12 Tournament first team and 2017 NCAA Tournament All-Region team honors, as well. The forward led the Ducks in scoring, points per game (16.1) and field goals (5.9) per game in 2016-17. As a sophomore, Brooks led the Pac-12 in total field goals with 231 in the 2015-16 season. Brooks announced that he would enter the 2017 NBA Draft after his junior year and was selected 45th overall by the Rockets.
