Player Bio

Jones was born in 1996 in Burnsville, Minnesota. His father, Robert Jones, played basketball at Wisconsin-Parkside. His mother, Debbie, led Devils Lake High School to a North Dakota state championship. Jones has volunteered for Feed My Starving Children, and he's served as a motivational speaker for elementary school children. He is also an ambassador for the United Heroes League. Jones provided the Excell Academy in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota with the "Write Your Own Story" Learning Lab in May of 2017, which included 30 computer work stations and a new projection system. Check him out on Twitter and Instragram (@1tyus). Jones was named the 2015 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player after leading Duke to the national championship title. He was named to the 2014-15 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman team along with the All-ACC third team, as well. Jones ranked second in the ACC in assists with 217 and was second in the nation among freshmen in assists per game (5.6). Jones also ranked eighth in the ACC in steals with 59. He was the second freshman in Duke history to record 400 points and 200 assists in the same season. The Apple Valley, Minnesota native announced that he would enter the 2015 NBA Draft after his freshman year at Duke. He was drafted in the first round (24th overall) by the Cavaliers and traded the same day to the Thunderwolves.
