Yogi Farrell, who earlier in the week reportedly backed off a deal with the Dallas Mavericks, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, according to Yahoo! Sports Shams Charania.

Yogi Ferrell and the Sacramento Kings have come to terms on a deal, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. Yogi Ferrell’s new Kings contract will be for two years and $6.2M, league sources said.

Ferrell, 25, told Yahoo! Sports he spoke with Kings general manager Vlade Divac and assistant general manager Brandon Williams.

“I heard the vision and optimism from Vlade and Brandon, and got a view of the culture and direction from veterans I look up to, and that was impactful,” Ferrell told Yahoo Sports. “I see the explosive potential from a starving young group that wants to open the floor up with more shooting and play with speed and smarts.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to grow with this team and I can’t wait to bring my heart to Sacramento.”

Ferrell’s representatives informed the Mavericks on Friday morning of his decision to change course on a two-year, $5.3 million deal. Ferrell had interest from several teams, including New Orleans and Cleveland, before coming to terms with the Kings.

Last season, Ferrell averaged 10.2 points, three assists and 2.5 rebounds per game as he started 21 of 82 games played for Dallas. He joined the Mavs on a 10-day contract in the middle of the 2016-17 season. One month after he joined the team, he lit up the Portland Trail Blazers for 32 points and nine 3-pointers on Feb. 3, 2017. It was a key moment as Ferrell — who went undrafted — quickly became a key piece in the Mavs’ rebuilding project.

Last week, the Mavs rescinded Ferrell’s qualifying offer, which made him an unrestricted free agent. However, that move was seen as just a formality, writes ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, as the sides were in the final stages of working out the new deal (which would have cost Dallas slightly less in annual salary).
