Hornets' PJ Washington sets record for 3s made in career debut

The last decade has seen superstars hit 3-pointers at record-breaking rates. It was only a matter of time before a rookie did the same.

Charlotte’s PJ Washington, taken No. 12 overall in this year’s Draft, sank seven 3-pointers against Chicago on Wednesday. The 21-year-old broke the previous career-debut record shared by Donyell Marshall (1994) and Jake Layman (2016).

Washington drew the start for the rebuilding Hornets after turning in an impressive preseason. He and Terry Rozier — acquired from Boston in the offseason — offer the best potential for a Charlotte franchise that hasn’t won a playoff series since 2002.
