Standout offensive efforts from third-year guards DJ Steward and Javonte Smart spearheaded the Philadelphia 76ers to a 117-114 win over the New Orleans Pelicans in NBA 2K24 Summer League consolation play at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Sunday afternoon.

In the first quarter, the 76ers appeared set to make the game out of reach when they jumped out to a 32-14 lead, but the Pelicans put together an even more prolific scoring output in the second period to shave off 11 points from their deficit by halftime. New Orleans drew even heading into the final period with a 33-point third quarter, forcing Philadelphia to fight for the win until the final possession.

New Orleans’ Dereon Seabron’s would-be game-tying three-point attempt failed to find the net at the buzzer.

Steward led the way for the 76ers with a game-high 36 points while also chipping in six assists, five rebounds and one steal. Smart followed with 23 points, nine assists, two rebounds and three steals. Greg Brown III furnished 18 points, nine boards and two blocks. Terquavion Smith supplied 14 points, six assists, three boards, one steal and one block.

Former Ohio State standout E.J. Liddell paced the Pelicans with 23 points, adding two rebounds, two assists and one steal. Landers Nolley II went for 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. Seabron totaled 19 points, five rebounds, five assists, three blocks and one steal. Rookie first-round pick Jordan Hawkins delivered 16 points, five boards, two assists and four steals. Dyson Daniels, last year’s lottery pick, generated a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double to go with eight assists.

Sunday’s contest marked the final Summer League game for both teams.
