Youth and fresh legs can put hops in an NBA player’s steps.
Perhaps inspired by the 2020 AT&T Slam Dunk during All-Star Weekend, Rookie of the Year candidate Ja Morant staged an ad-hoc, one-man dunk contest during warmups for Memphis vs. Sacramento on Thursday night.
Watch this sky-high, between-the-legs alley-oop reverse finish, and then a picture-perfect rendition of Vince Carter’s famous elbow dunk from the legendary 2000 contest, here punched through off a bounce pass:

Morant was a bit more down to earth in the actual game. In the third quarter, he had two points and two assists in 13 minutes of play.
