The Orlando Magic announced Thursday that point guard D.J. Augustin would miss the next 3-4 weeks after an MRI revealed bone irritation in his left knee. He told reporters that he thinks time off will help him get back to playing, and the hope is he can avoid surgery.
Augustin, averaging 10.7 points and 4.7 assists in his fourth season with the Magic, missed Wednesday’s victory against the Lakers. He’s played in 39 games this season, all but six off the bench.
.@OrlandoMagic PG DJ Augustin being out for 3-4 weeks with bone irritation in his L knee: "I definitely think (time off) will help get me back to playing, and me playing on it right now just isn’t smart and it isn’t helping the team, so (resting the knee) is what’s best."

.@OrlandoMagic PG DJ Augustin: "The one thing you worry about is surgery, especially with all of the guys that are out now, due to (surgeries) & that was my main concern. I’m kind of relieved, but at the same time disappointed they’re saying 4 weeks. That’s pretty long for me."
