Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Ben Simmons will not play against the Atlanta Hawks tonight (7 ET, NBA TV) because of a lower back injury, the team announced.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers are still determining the severity of Simmons’ injury, which reportedly is more severe than a day-to-day issue.
ESPN Sources: Sixers star Ben Simmons is still undergoing treatment and evaluation on his back and there’s expected to be a course of action decided upon soon. This isn’t a day-to-day injury; Simmons will miss time. How much time? That’s still unclear.

Simmons left Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks after irritating his lower back and did not return. He played only four minutes before heading to the locker room, recording five points and two rebounds.
Over the weekend, Wojnarowski reported that Simmons was apparently ’emotional’ following an X-ray. Simmons is averaging 16.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 2.2 steals in 36.3 minutes across 53 games.
