Brook Lopez Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Second Straight Week

Brooklyn, NY – The National Basketball Association announced today that Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 30 through Sunday, April 5. This is the second NBA Player of the Week honor of Lopez’s career and the second straight week Lopez has been honored. He becomes the first NBA player this season and the first player in Nets’ history to win the award in consecutive weeks.

Lopez is the 23rd Nets’ player to capture the award a total of 41 times. Deron Williams previously won the award this season for games played from November 3-9. Lopez led the Nets to a 3-1 week, averaging 20.8 ppg on 59.4 percent shooting, 10.3 rpg and 2.0 bpg in 36.0 mpg. He posted two double-doubles and one 30-point game during his most recent four-game stretch.

Lopez kicked off the week by posting a team-high 24 points (11-of-17 FG), a game-high 11 rebounds and two blocks in 40 minutes in a 111-106 victory over the Indiana Pacers at Barclays Center on Tuesday. He followed up that performance by totaling 18 points (9-of-15 FG), seven rebounds and a game-high five blocks in 34 minutes against the Knicks on Wednesday, highlighted by a game-winning layup with 2.0 seconds to play to break a 98-98 tie and give the Nets a 100-98 victory at Madison Square Garden. On Friday, Lopez registered 30 points (13-of-24 FG), a game-high 17 rebounds (including a career-high-tying 10 offensive rebounds) and one block in 44 minutes in a 114-109 win over the Toronto Raptors in Brooklyn. He finished off the week by recording 11 points (5-of-8 FG) and six rebounds in just 26 minutes in a loss at Atlanta on Saturday.
