BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets have re-signed forward Cam Johnson to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Johnson (6’8”, 210) was originally acquired by Brooklyn in a trade with the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 9, and recorded averages of 16.6 points on 46.8 percent shooting from the field, 37.2 percent shooting from 3-point range and 85.1 percent shooting from the free-throw line, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals in 30.8 minutes per game through 25 regular season contests (all starts) with the Nets. Across 42 games split between Brooklyn and Phoenix in the 2022-23 season, Johnson registered career-high averages across the board with 15.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals in 28.6 minutes per game, while shooting a career-high 47.0 percent from the field, 40.4 percent from 3-point range and 84.2 percent from the free-throw line. In the Nets’ first round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers, Johnson posted averages of 18.5 points on 50.9 percent shooting from the field, 42.9 percent shooting from distance and 85.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line, 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 38.0 minutes per game through four games (all starts). The 27-year-old has increased his points per game in each of his four NBA seasons and each of his three playoff appearances.
Prior to joining the Nets, the Moon Township, Pa., native spent three seasons (2019-22) with the Suns, helping Phoenix reach the postseason on two occasions, including a trip to the NBA Finals in 2021. In the 2021-22 campaign, Johnson finished third in NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting and ranked fourth in the league in 3-point percentage (career-high 42.5 percent). In 225 games (77 starts) across four seasons, Johnson has posted averages of 11.3 points on 44.7 percent shooting from the field, 39.3 percent shooting from 3-point range and 84.3 percent shooting from the free-throw line, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25.0 minutes per contest. In 38 games (seven starts) across three playoff appearances with Phoenix (2021-22) and Brooklyn (2023), Johnson has notched averages of 10.2 points on 48.9 percent shooting from the field, 41.6 percent shooting from distance and 85.9 percent shooting from the free-throw line, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 24.1 minutes per game. Johnson ranks sixth in 3-point percentage across the last three playoffs (2021-23) among players to attempt at least 100 threes.
Johnson was selected with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then had his draft rights traded to Phoenix. Prior to beginning his NBA career, he spent his final two collegiate seasons (2017-19) at the University of North Carolina, where he earned All-ACC First Team honors in his final season. Johnson began his collegiate career at the University of Pittsburgh, where he redshirted during the 2014-15 season and played the following two seasons (2015-17).
