Rockets vs. Trail Blazers Odds & Picks: Portland to Cover in High-Scoring Affair

Betsperts analyst Ron Klos previews the Rockets vs Trail Blazers matchup.

The Houston Rockets will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night at the Toyota Center with tipoff set for 8:00 PM ET. After a five-game homecourt winning streak ended on Thursday against the Heat, the Rockets will attempt to get back on track in the fourth game of a seven-game homestand. The Trail Blazers had won five of six prior to suffering a 130-110 beating at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. Not only will the Trail Blazers cap a back-to-back in Houston on Saturday, but they are also in the midst of a six-game, 10-day road trip.

Trail Blazers -3.5 (-110 DraftKings)

This will be the second matchup this season between these teams with the Blazers winning the first game 125-111. At 16-13 on the year, Portland has a talented squad led by Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons who are both averaging at least 24 points per game. They are an offensive machine averaging over 123 points per game in their last five. With a 9-19 record, Houston is one of the youngest teams in the league.

Portland is 11-5 ATS on the road this year and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. The Blazers are also 4-0 ATS in their last four trips to Houston.

Rockets vs. Trail Blazers Game Total Over 228 Points (-110 DraftKings)

Not only has Portland been scoring at one of the highest rates in the league over the last couple of weeks but from the field, they are shooting at a clip over 50%. The total between these two was 236 in their first matchup and that was with Lillard not playing. He has scored at least 35 points in four of his last five games and should be able to score at will versus the Rockets defense. Portland also ranks ninth in points scored per 100 possessions while the Rockets are 24th defensively in the same metric. Finally, the over is 5-0 in the Blazers last five games.

Risk: 1.1 Units on DraftKings to win 1 unit. (Playable to 230)
