EL SEGUNDO, CA (October 3, 2013) – Time Warner Cable SportsNet is excited to announce that Lakers legend Byron Scott and Lakers favorite Luke Walton have joined the network’s on-air team. The two have 39 years of combined NBA experience and five Lakers NBA Championship rings and Walton played in the NBA as recently as last season. Scott and Walton join former Lakers James Worthy and Robert Horry to give Time Warner Cable SportsNet a total of 15 NBA Championships and members of Lakers teams from the past four decades.
Scott and Walton will cover the Lakers for Time Warner Cable SportsNet, contributing to the network’s award-winning studio programming including franchise shows “#LakeShow,” “Access SportsNet,” the “Access SportsNet: Lakers” pre-and post-game shows and more. Scott will first appear on Time Warner Cable SportsNet on Sunday, October 6 on the network’s coverage of the Lakers’ second preseason game and Walton will first report from the Time Warner Cable SportsNet studio on Tuesday, October 8 before the Lakers exhibition game against Denver.

Scott has more than 28 years of NBA experience and played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 10 seasons during the Showtime era, winning three NBA Championships. He spent 14 seasons as a player, reaching the playoffs 13 times, and also suited up for the Indiana Pacers and Vancouver Grizzlies. After his playing career, Scott served as the Head Coach of the New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers and was named the NBA Coach of the Year while with the Hornets in 2007-8. He also has served as an analyst for ABC and ESPN’s NBA coverage. Scott is originally from Inglewood, California and his non-profit organization, The Byron Scott Children’s Fund, raises money for children’s charities.

Walton was drafted by the Lakers in 2003 and spent nine seasons in Los Angeles, winning two championships. He finished the 2012-13 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fresh off of his playing career, he is the most recently-active NBA player to be employed by a TV network. Walton and his father, NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton, are the first father and son duo to win multiple NBA championships. He is originally from San Diego and resides in Los Angeles.
