Many of the Showtime Lakers are expected to be in attendance for the ceremony, including Jamaal Wilkes, Norm Nixon, Byron Scott, Kurt Rambis, and Mitch Kupchak. Presenting Pat Riley for his induction will fittingly be the player he termed as the greatest leader he ever coached, Magic Johnson and also Jerry West, who was the Lakers GM when Riley became coach.
Pat Riley's coaching continued in New York where he took the Knicks, with fellow 2008 inductee Patrick Ewing, back to the upper echelon of the league featuring many battles with the Michael Jordan led Bulls. Later he had 2 stints of coaching in Miami, including their championship in 2006, giving him 5 for his career and making him one of just 3 coaches to lead multiple teams to a championship.
Also being inducted in the 2008 class with Riley and Ewing are Hakeem Olajuwon, Adrian Dantley, William Davidson, Dick Vitale, and Cathy Rush. Learn more about the inductees here.
