Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has been named NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Monday, Feb. 26, to Sunday, March 3.
James averaged 30.3 points (56.9 FG%, 50.0 3FG%), 4.7 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in three games as the Lakers finished the week with a 2-1 record.
Playing in his 21st NBA season, James began the week on Feb. 28 by leading the Lakers to a 21-point fourth quarter comeback against the L.A. Clippers, the largest fourth quarter comeback of his career. James recorded 34 points (13-21 FG, 7-12 3FG), six rebounds, eight assists and two blocks to guide the purple and gold to a 116-112 victory over the Clippers. James followed up the performance the next evening with 31 points (12-24 FG, 2-5 3FG, 5-7 FT), four rebounds, nine assists, one steal and one block in a 134-131 overtime victory versus the Washington Wizards.
James closed out the week in historic fashion on March 2 against the Denver Nuggets, as he became the first player in NBA history to surpass the 40,000-point career milestone. James finished the contest with 26 points (12-20 FG, 2-5 3FG), four rebounds, nine assists and three steals.
In 54 games (all starts) for the Lakers this season, James is averaging 25.3 points (52.7 FG%, 40.8 3FG%), 7.0 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 35.1 minutes. He has recorded 17 double-doubles, including three triple-doubles, and has scored at least 30 points in 15 contests.
James owns a league-record 68 weekly awards, including seven weekly honors with the purple and gold. This marks his first weekly award of the season and first since Jan. 23, 2023.
